Board Rules
Hello All, I am new to this site & discussion boards in general. By reading the postings the last few days, it is obvious that someone made a faux pas. I don't wish to offend anyone or break any rules, formal or informal. Any advice? It would be welcome. I am looking forward to getting to know you. Cathy

Tips needed for a co-workers upcoming surgery!
I have a coworker who was diagnosed recently with BC and is scheduled for surgery on the 18th. The surgery she’s having is called “breast conserving” surgery. The way she described it to me is that they are removing the tumor on the affected side and doing the sentinel node biopsy (of course with possible axillary node…

My jokes
I am glad I can bring laughter to others with the jokes I post. I am a regular on this board and we have all been, going and gone through so much that laughter is one of the best medicines. This board is about friendship and trying to get through each day and I am glad I can bring a smile or a laugh. I haven't posted…

A Straight Shooter...
A man goes into a bar and seats himself on a stool. The bartender looks at him and says, "What'll it be buddy?" The man says, "Set me up with seven whiskey shots and make them doubles." The bartender does this and watches the manslug one down, then the next, then the next, and so on until all seven are gone almost as…

Local hospital one of eight pilot
Survivorship Programs nationwide. My Sunday paper had a whole section titled, "Faces of Cancer, Faces that Care". The article talked about helping cancer survivors adapt. I thought I'd share some comments: Who needs chemo? Oncotype dx helps. It analyzes tumors. When you buy pink, know where your green is going. This was an…

Lymphedema still not under control
The lymph specialist finally decided I would have to have the wrap therapy to move the fluid out of my arm. Well, after the 2nd day my fingers swelled up like little balloons and were extremely painful (had to take pain meds)!! After 5 days, my arm is normal size (Yeah) but hand and mostly fingers still retain fluid. So,…

Am I finally realizing I am a cancer survivor?
Since I was first dx'd in March of this year I have not really been able to tell anyone outside my family and close friends about my "illness". Only a couple of the people I work with knew about my dx. The others just knew I was sick but did not know with what. Today someone asked me how I was feeling. I told her that I…

Lesley is home
Lesley is finally home and the hospice nurse is great. We had some friends come over and help and spent some time with Lesley for her birthday. Lesley is a bit more alert, but still fades in and out of consciousness. I was however able to speak to her about the hospice and she was saddened that her condition has…

Exchange surgery & Work
For any of you who have had the exchange surgery, how long did your doctor make you stay out of work? I will have mine on Wednesday (13th) and have heard that this is a piece of cake compared to the mastectomy. Just wondering how long to plan on being out.

And now that I'm now approaching my one year anniversary, I'm obsessing about my HER 2 status. My onc. has told me that the chemo worked to kill…

Port question...
Good morning. How long after treatment must a port stay in place? I know it could stay forever, but, if you want to have it removed, how long do you have to wait once treatments are complete? THanks in advance.

Please just LET IT GO..Thanks
I think enough has been said and enough is still being said. Let it go!!! Please stop making new posts relating to what has been going on. We don't need that. For goodness sake, we are fighting for our lives, we don't need a discussion that got out of hand to keep being brought up over and over. Thank you!

COMING HOME
My wife will be coming home tomorrow, and we decided on hospice. Unfortunately Lesley's mental status is poor, so I had to make the decision based on what the ONC and RAD ONC recommended. Any treatment at this point would only create more suffering and would not extend her life much further. There was in fact 3 spots on…
