Let's bring some perspective to the Board
I was REALLY (Yes I know it's in caps) disappointed about the thread on health care. Up until now, I really thought any person can come here, post their thoughts and start a discussion. A discussion that stimulates thinking and reveals other viewpoints than your own. And it is a given that not all can agree on everything,…

Feckless First Aid...
Ole staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy Sven. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife Lena. He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and…

SEX AFTER DEATH
A couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back and inform the other if there is sex after death. Their biggest fear was that there was no after life at all. After a long life together, the husband was the first to die. True to his word, he made the first contact: "Marion ... Marion" "Is that you, Bob?" "Yes,…

saw the onc today and it's not good news
here's the scoop - my oncologist says i have a lot of cancer left in me and he has no options to offer me - i have maxed out on chemo - and am triple negative - he is searching for a clinical trial somewhere, anywhere in the united states that might be able to help me. i will start physical therapy on wednesday so we can…

HARDEST
decision that I have to make. MRI results show 2 spots on Lesley's brain and cancer is in the spinal fluid. ONC says that treatment through the spine not even an option anymore, only radiation, but will only target the 2 areas that we can see. I have talked with my mother-in-law and we are going to the hospital after we…

Ideas for 'stuff' to take to Women's Retreat?
In Nov., I'm going to a 3 day Women's Rereat. I've been to quite a few there but not in the last couple of years. Everybody always decorates a 'mail bag' (small paper bag) and hangs it on the wall. In past years, I've always taken something small for each and always written a short personal note to each (this was before…

Sometimes I just don't know what to say...
Many of you are going through so much. Not only battling cancer, but often dealing with family matters, employment & financial issues, and insurance concerns as well. I want you to know that my heart and prayers go out to each of you, but I do not know how to respond when my life seems to be going along okay [except for…

Arimidex connected to uterine cancer?
I am a four year survivor of breast cancer. My markers have remained low, and all mammograms and tests have been normal. I've been on Arimidex for about 3 years. I began spotting quite frequently and I asked my gynecologist if I should be alarmed. I told him it seemed to be linked to whether or not I'd taken my Arimidex on…

The @#$%! insurance company
So, two weeks after completing radiation I receive a thick envelope in the mail from the @#$%! insurance company indicating that they are declining the radiation treatments. So, I have to give them back? Maybe wash dishes in the hospital kitchen? Sell a couple of non-essential internal organs? No one dared make a move…

Good news today...
I saw the onc today. His opinion is that the cancer is responding very well to the chemo. The obvious 4mm lymph node is now fairly hard to find. The redness (from the IBC) is more intense in color, but doesn't cover such a large surface area. And much of the swelling (from lymph fluids not circulating properly) is gone. It…

So will there be swelling or shrinking with rads?
I still have some swelling from my lumpectomy, now starting with the rads on Monday will I see more? I was thinking with a lumpectomy and radiation I would end up with a smaller breast but not so far, it's bigger then ever. I was already sort of lopsided, way before breast cancer came along. Now what will the end result…

I've not posted but still lurking
To all, I have not been posting replies lately and I will tell you the reason. I still have been lurking and reading. I thought I would still have to go through Herceptin treatment until the middle of November because my ejection fraction dropped again but when I met with my new oncologist she stated that my EF(ejection…

Help I think I'm about to be a guinea pig
Am I missing out on something concerning radiation? The other day I went to the radiation doctor's office building, I met him. Then the following day went back and they gave me a ct scan, a lady marked a couple of spots on me with what looks like a black magic marker and then when the scan was done she asked me what time I…

I wish everyone was receiving good news and hope that things will improve for all on our board. Den and I returned from the cardiologist. While he does have some…

Supplements to strengthen immunity?
Did anyone take any natural supplements to boost immunity while getting chemo? My sister has something called "Immunity Take Care" made by New Chapter, but, onc did not recommend she take them?
