Gas trapped under ribs after partial
Hi all! I just discovered this site and forum and I’m grateful. I just had a robotic laparoscopic R partial nephrectomy 9 days ago. 6 incisions and the healing process has been slower than expected. My pain is much better than it was last week, but I’m still having some major discomfort. I have C02 still trapped in my…

4 years next month NED and now....
Had my annual CT right after Thanksgiving. Stage 1, Grade 2 measured at 2 cm. Di Vinci Right Kidney CCRCC. Still NED thankfully, BUT they found a highly suspicious and pretty much unviewable lesion in my liver right under my rib cage in a very difficult place. Ultrasound couldn't get to it and subsequent MRI Oncologist…

CT? Ultrasound? MRI?
Hi all! It’s been a bit, some of you may remember me as the sonographer that found her own cancer back in august. I had A partial nephrectomy and the margins came back clear. But now I’m having so much anxiety that the cancer has come back or metastasized. I do still scan myself and see nothing but ultrasound can miss…

Well, the new board had me staring at it like a ram at a new gate :-) But finally figured out how to create a new topic :-) I’ve posted some time ago that my husband had a clear chest x-ray 7 years after Stage 1 surgery. Couple of weeks ago he also had a abdominal USG, finally! I’m happy to report all…

Hi, all - new here/beginning Checkmate 914 shortly
Hello, ali- I'm glad to see this forum exists. I learned about my cancer when I peed a whole lot of blood in early January. There had been clues for about 10 months but the doctors chalked it up to depression (covid, partial retirement). Anyway, the scan they took while I was in the ER revealed a 10cm growth on the kidney…

Back pain post nephrectomy, not prior
I had a nephrectomy of my right kidney. They couldn't do the surgery laparoscopically, as I have a lot of mesh & scar tissue in my stomach, so they cut me from my right front to back & separated my ribs. I am having terrible back pain which shots around my side. The surgeon said it can't be from the surgery, but I didn't…

Post-nephrectomy, esp. for those who have been there
A major concern I have about a pending radical nephrectomy (R kidney) is comfort and safety when I get home after the surgery. I’m 70 and live alone now. If the procedure is laparo, I anticipate an overnight stay in the hospital and then home. From your experience(s), do you think I’d be okay on my own? I’m thinking,…

Post-nephrectomy Fever
Greetings, I had my partial nephrectomy surgery last Tuesday and I was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday evening. The first night home I developed a fever of about 101F. Frustrated with the New System
I’ve been trying for two days to post a reply to Bill’s 2cm post because my situation was similar. Nothing gets posted. I get a message that my comment will post after the moderator approves it. But the comment sits there in limbo. Bill, for a mass your size, CT may or may not resolve what it is. My initial lesion was…

🎶 "It's the most scanxious time of the year!" 🎶 (three years post-surgery)
Last week I had my scans. CT of my chest went quickly, MRI of the abdomen/pelvis felt quick (because I think I fell asleep in the tube). Everything went smoothly... until it didn't. My doctor is always great about sending test results right away so I don't stress out. True to form, he sent me the MRI results within a…

PET Scan found Soft Glow in Liver (Golf Ball Size)
I am asking for my mother. Are the glows on the PET Scan always cancer? They want to follow up with an MRI to get a better picture and if that's not clear a biopsy. They found one soft glowing golf ball size in her liver. I thought PET Scans were the best. (Background)She started with Kidney cancer years ago and had one…

A question for the gents
I guess a catheter will be a necessary part of the surgery. I’ve looked at info about the process, but nothing has told me how it feels (insertion, wearing/using, removal?). Painful at all, or just uncomfortable? Also, how long was your catheter in place after the surgery? I can’t be assured if the surgery will be lap. or…

Survivorship Program Appointment
I had my first appointment with the nurse practitioner at Stanford’s Survivorship Program this morning. It went quite well. It took an hour, though a part of that was just introducing myself and her asking questions to get to know me. She asked what I wanted to get out of the appointment. I explained that in addition to…
