Sunday School...
PALM SUNDAY: It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm brances. The boy asked what they were for. "People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by," "Wouldn't you know it?" the boy fumed.…

Hi everyone! We have some new people joining our club. It's not a club we wanted to join and yet here we are. So I thought we could update each other on where we are: I am finishing treatment #2. I just came off of a low week. My white blood cells tank and I get Neutropenic - not the norm I know. Mentally, I tend to get…

The Cat Came Back The Very Next Day...
A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park. As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway. The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home. Driving back up his…

Unless you've walked this walk
I'm new at this but have begun to train people in how to approach me and my BC. People just dont have a clue unless they have walked the walk. I belong to a support group which has nothing to do with cancer. One of my friends trying to help said well you feel good today, that's all that matters, so dont think about…

I'm also joining the Chemo Girls Club
Just moved to L.A. from San Diego, to be with my family. On Friday, on my first appointment with a chemotherapy oncologist, he took one look at my breast and set me up for chemo on Monday. On the same day, he had me get a PICC line and blood work. I also had a bone scan and a CT scan. He's not wasting any time. I'm glad…

My introduction
Hi my name is Keri and I am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in May of 2007 and had a left mastectomy in June of 2007, chemo and radiation, then reconstruction in October 2008. All seems to be well physically now but emotionally not so much. I haven't really talked to anyone about how I'm feeling as it seems like…

Hello as I join you on this new adventure!
I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma at the very end of September--one tumor, 1.3 by 2 cm in the lower part of my right breast. I'm 57, have one son still living at home (moved back home) while attending college, and am in college myself working on a Ph.D. After learning I have breast cancer, I have been doing a…

I'VE BEEN STRONG UNTIL YESTERDAY AND NOW I'M JUST PLAIN SCARED!!
Yesterday I finally got my Oncotype score and it was 33. I've been pretty confident up until that point that I may not need to have the chemo. I had the bilateral, my tumor was 2.2 with no nodes, I'm ER+ and will take the Arimidex. Was really praying that it would be enough. I meet with the onco doc today, had the nurse…

The Halloween Kiss The Kiss
A cabbie picks up a Nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: "I have a question to ask, but I don't want to offend you" She answers, " My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long…

For those of you that have had radiation after a lumpectomy, how long after the surgery did you start your radiation treatments? Phone Call from Genetics
I got a phone call from the genetics department on Monday with my test results and met with them on Tuesday. It was definitely not what I wanted to hear, but I was expecting it. They had told me weeks ago that the testing on my tumor pointed to this and the blood tests were done to confirm and I think, narrow it down also.…

Chemo must be working
I've had 2 chemos so far and my lumps have shrank down to almost nothing. Has anyone else's shrank? I can hardly feel the one under my arm and breast, too. Chemo didn't hit me as hard this time, either. My lumps were pretty big, like 3 cm.

So, ladies, I'm in a wonderful mood today. I had a great performance review this afternoon and was promised a big promotion in November. So excited. I may even get an office with a view of the Capitol -- though that is probably hoping for too much. Anyway, I have a really fun weekend planned. Tonight, Simon and I are going…
