So my onc put me back on Carbo/taxol as I responded so well to it the first time round. Well yesterday was my second infusion and it all went well. Best news of all ...... I also got…

I AM SO PISSED OFF VENTING!!!!!!!!
Okay, so for those who do not remember I was a Stage 2b in May of 2009. I have been getting a blood draw every 30 days for 19 months. My CA-125 post surgery was a 10 and I bottomed out at 5 after 6 carbo/taxol treatments. So this whole 19 months my CA-125 has always been between 6 and 8. So, I get my blood draw in December…

Question for Pusteblume
Did I read your post correctly? You are receiving IP chemo for a recurrence of ovarian cancer? If that is the case, it is a most unusual protocol. What first-line treatment did you receive? Carlene

Okay, okay, I'll try the diet! Anyone doing a nutritional diet?
After 3 years my sons finally won out and I'm going to improve my nutrition. Can anyone tell me some things they eat that you find enjoyable. I'm cutting out dairy (I love Milk and Cheese), sugar, white bread, and soft drinks. The only thing I feel I'll have a problem with is milk. Also, how much meat is good per month? Is…

CA125 dropped 60 points! YEA! But platelets dropped to 10,000 so no chemo today. BOO!
Yes, it was a bummer to have my platelets tank to 10,000 after just 1 infusion of carboplatin. And, yes, I'm disappointed to have gotten a platelet transfusion today instead of my 2nd carbo infusion. (Funny how you can feel fine even with platelets that dangerously low, isn't it?) BUT, I am so THRILLED that something still…

Now I have shingles
Hi all, I have been having chest pains for the last 4 days. I thought I better get it checked out before I have to start my treatments up again. I was suppose to start the Avastin on Wednesday. The doctor told me to come in today and when I was getting ready to go, I see this rash on my boob and on my back. And I thought…

Linda's GO appointment: Good News
Hello everyone. Friday was my wife's appointment with her gynecological oncologist. We've been going for treatments to a hospital closer to us (a good decision) but retained the GO for supervision and the fact that he's been treating her since 2005. This was my wife's third go-round with chemo, Cisplatin and Taxotere. The…

I love my husband....but...
Yes, he got me the keurig, he's a good man but here's a recent conversation...like 5 minutes ago... Me: "It's almost a year...I'm scared." Him: "Find your pills, when you're scared, my stomach hurts." LOL... I couldn't help but laugh through my tears. Why is it that my cancer ends up being all about him? Hugs! Leesa

Need to vent, bowel issues
This is a topic you can't really discuss elsewhere. I am on my 4th recurrence, and thought I was having ascites and fluid build-up. I requested a paracentesis, since I have had them before and they are wonderful. Well, it wasn't fluid at all, but backed-up poop. My PA told me I was backed up, up to my neck. There appears…

even the normal pains become huge concerns
and i have been here before a few times, but this time I was sure my pinchy piercy pain in the top of my shoulder I have been experiencing off and on was a blood clot when it felt like it was traveling up my juglar vein. I was sitting in church and it got worse, and then the panic set in. I asked Mark to please pray for…

Debulking surgery: Robotic vs Laproscopic vs Traditional for Primary peritoneal cancer
Hi I was just wondering if anyone out there has had surgery for PPC by any method other than traditional incision for debulking. My Mom is 86 and has had 4 chemo treatments of carboplatin (no taxol). Her gynicological oncologist has suggested that she have the debulking surgery with traditional incision. He can perform…

recommendation for "biography of cancer" book
I just finished a fascinating book called "The Emperor of All maladies, A Biography of Cancer" by Siddhartha Mukherjee. I saw it on NY Times list of 10 best books of 2010. I am not a science geek and my typical reading is fiction, mostly suspense and mystery. But I could hardly put this book down -certainly as a cancer…

finished treatment and NED
My CT scan was clear after having surgery and 6 rounds of chemo. I never felt or looked sick. I have low grade cancer, and my CA-125 is 6 now but was only 37 when I discovered a tennis ball sized tumor under my navel. CT scans and CA-125 are the best tools available for monitoring my disease, but they are not that great in…

2nd chemo harder than the first
I tried to prepare myself that chemo effects are cumulative but my 2nd infusion has really taken the wind out of my sails. Nausea manageable but oh my the deep bone pain is gruesome. I had to take 1/2 percocet last night to get some sleep. And heavy duty meds like that really do a number on me. So I'm not sure if today I…
