How many Carbos can you have?
Hi, I have had two carbo treatments in the past 3 years( 1st 6 then additional 10). I asked my dr. when the taxol/avastin no longer works(its is at this time) what is next? He suggested the normal stuff which I have not done, and then I added can we do carbo again? He said I would have to wait 1 1/2 years since I have done…

I'm on my holiday chemo break
and loving it. I so deserve this break for I've been chemoing since last January. I made my sugar cookie cut outs and shopped till I dropped for silly toys (THAT doesn't take long!) I know I have to go back to reality after New Year's, but in the meantime I plan to enjoy every minute. I hope to be strong enough to make a…

Kindness Advice for when Mom is so discourged
Well Mom is depressed and very fatigued...she's not sure if its the cancer or the chemo. She started PARPs one month ago, and she has been fatigued ever since. She fell last week, didn't break any bones, but bruised her knee badly and has a bruise under her eye, on her cheek. She is hobbling, and miserable I would say. She…

CA 125 up
I am feeling very, very down. Mom's numbers have gone from 3000+ to 4,118 from her 5th chemo to the 6th. Her CT scan on November 22nd showed that the tumor did not shrink but it did not grow either. Mom's oncologist called today and is frantically trying to get Mom in a clinical trial asap. She feels her current chemo is…

Update on my mom
So today marks a week since my moms first chemo treatment. Next one isn't scheduled until new years eve (this is where I'm thankful alcohol doesn't affect chemo lol) and that will start the day one and day eight intervals. I had to leave before her dr mentioned what her CA125 is so when I talk to her today I'm hoping she…

Gemzar working for me!!
After one treatment with Gemzar, my CA-125 went from 720 to 437. Yipee!! And all my blood work is normal. My main side effect has been constipation, with just a teeny bit of nausea. I'm stoked! I want to see single digits this time!

Checking In
Hello to all the ladies on this board. I have missed keeping up with so many of you. I no longer have my internet at home, so it is hit and miss at the library. This has been a year of great change for me. After losing my job of 22 years, I got one job that was part time, graduated from school with my associate degree,…

Gemzar & Avastin - Need Advice
Well I just got back from my doctor's appointment. Not very good news. The spot in my liver has grown. It is now 1 3/4 inches. It was only an 1 inch. (sorry I don't do cm). So the Metformin pill did not do anything for me. I also have another spot that lit up on the PET/Scan a lymph node the size of 1/2 inch. It is along…

My mom, my best friend, is having a recurrence after 6 years of remission--just need to talk about i
with those who understand. After reading some of the stories on here--I understand how truly blessed we've been that my Mom has felt so good for so long. She started having what we thought were bouts of bronchitis in August. She ended up in the emergency room in October with extreme shortness of breath and they sent her to…

My last communication with MM was after an emergency surgery that she had, and hardly survived. Her words were brief, but her spirit was still…

My neighbor has OVCA - at least stage 3
I was shocked to find a prayer request in my email this morning from a member of my local support group. Someone had forwarded a message about "a woman in my church who is having surgery today for ovarian cancer". Turns out it's my neighbor, a retired RN who was so kind and helpful following my own de-bulking and long,…

Gemzar question

I have just recently developed what looks likes a rash/blood spots on my arms and legs and I'm short of breath just walking 10 to…

Altered bowels habits
I am worrying about my bowels at the moment. I go about 6 times a day only to pass small soft amounts that are yellowy/brown in colour. I do pass a lot of wind too. I was on doxil and have just been switched to carboplatin/taxol. I am quite worried about a blockage but have had a CT scan, an x-ray and a ultra-sound and my…

Mum had her last chemo a week ago Friday, and she had to see her consultant on Monday , every thing good, they will do a ct scan / blood text beginning of January to get a baseline picture, is she now in remission as treatment has ended? Or is it classed as remission after her 3 month blood test comes back…

CT/PET results today: mets to the liver. 4 little spots. :(
Anyone have any encouraging words for me on a dark day? Please someone post and tell me you have liver mets that shrunk away with chemo or that linger without causing trouble! They're small (only one slightly larger than a cm & 3 other tiny ones noted on the report that my gyne-onc couldn't even FIND on my scan images) but…

Recurrent Clear Cell/Clinical trial for morab-003
My 2nd look surgery last week revealed that the cancer is all over my abdomen. They drained the fluid that was causing my pain. Saw the gyn/oncologist today and he is recommending I go back on the original protocol of 18 weeks carboplatin/taxol which put me in remission for over 18 months. He's also recommending a clinical…

red/white blood counts
Just had my second chemo yesterday. Glad to report all went well, except for one potential snag. My red counts were up higher than last time. That of course is good. My white count was just barely below the threshold of allowable for chemo but he signed me off to have chemo anyway. I was very surprised because I have been…

more new research: BRCA-Negative Ovarian Cancer Responds to Monotherapy With PARP Inhibitor
I don't know if many of you like to read new research, but I think it's good if we work to make this Discussion Board an important resource for anyone diagnosed with OVA. It is so great to have one place online that is nurturing and informative, with so much scary inaccurate stuff out there. So here's what I read on…
