My neighbor has OVCA - at least stage 3
I was shocked to find a prayer request in my email this morning from a member of my local support group. Someone had forwarded a message about "a woman in my church who is having surgery today for ovarian cancer". Turns out it's my neighbor, a retired RN who was so kind and helpful following my own de-bulking and long,…

red/white blood counts
Just had my second chemo yesterday. Glad to report all went well, except for one potential snag. My red counts were up higher than last time. That of course is good. My white count was just barely below the threshold of allowable for chemo but he signed me off to have chemo anyway. I was very surprised because I have been…

more new research: BRCA-Negative Ovarian Cancer Responds to Monotherapy With PARP Inhibitor
I don't know if many of you like to read new research, but I think it's good if we work to make this Discussion Board an important resource for anyone diagnosed with OVA. It is so great to have one place online that is nurturing and informative, with so much scary inaccurate stuff out there. So here's what I read on…

What are the Steps for Treatment for Ovarian Cancer Stage 3?
A very good friend of mine told me she has ovarian cancer stage 3. They said it has spread to her lymph nodes. They prescribed her hexamethylamine, which is an oral chemo med. Get this monster out of me please!!
On December 6th, shortly after I woke up, I noticed a large lump in my abdomen. Soon, I was being examined by a doctor friend of mine who told me to get to urgent care. I immediately went, and was told to go get an ultrasound performed. Got it. One hour later, I received the news. "A 12.8 cm solid and cystic mass in right…

I am so afraid I'm going to lose
My battle. I was told today by my oncologist that after 2 rounds of Doxil, the PPC is spreading in the peritoneal lining. I was diagnosed the end of March of this year with PPC, with the cancer spreading to my lung. At the time of diagnosis I was given a 70 to 80% chance of survival. I went through the 6 rounds of…

Did you feel well even on the good days during chemo?
My mom reports that even after the 8 or 10 days post chemo infusion (and the real yucky days) she still doesn't feel "well". I told her that I thought that the effects of chemo may linger for even a few months after it is all over with. She remains concerned about it and plans to ask her gyn-onc. My dad thinks it is…
