My one concern with the Gatorade is that it has a lot of sugar, and I've read that cancer likes sugar. I didn't get my platelet number this morning, but I was concerned when I saw a small patch of bruising on my arm. One of the signs we look for with son is patches of petechia (sp?). These are the tiny freckle size red dots. 10,000 was his doctor's cut off for a transfusion and he never did get that low although 11,000 at one point scared the heck out of us! Fortunately for him, he grew out of this problem by age 2. His platelets are on the low side, but not dangerously low.

PS on the Gatorade and sugar.....
I think I will add water to the Gatorade. That way it cuts down on the sugar and adds fluids which I know we need a lot of with chemo too.
