Shaving Head ??
OK, my hair has started coming out right at the 2 week mark from my first treatment of TCH. I've already cut it short . . .I had hair mid-way down my back and now it's above my shoulders. We've got four kids and I was hoping to include them all in the head shaving. We're a blended family and while we have them all most of…

A few weeks later I started to feel pain in my neck, shoulder (the same side as my breast cancer), then pains in both my knees, elbows, ankles, fingers and toes. My worst pain is in my neck and shoulders and…

Going crazy! 1 week from bilateral mastectomy. How do you decide about reconstruction?
I feel like a yoyo. I am up one minute about having reconstruction and off of it the next minute. If one person tells me I should do it, I feel like I should and I will be sorry if I do not. If another tells me I am crazy messing around with all that extra surgery and procedures that come with reconstruction, I think I am…

So tired of bad news..
Hi ladies! Just asking for lots of prayers. I woke up this morning unable to see. I can see things that are far away, but I can't read anything close up or even tell the time on my watch. We are flying home from our vacation a week and a half early so that I can get a brain MRI. My pupils are different sizes, but besides…

lung lesion
Hi all, About a month ago or maybe a little longer, I had a chest MRI done due to some ongoing post port pain. Long story short, the radiologist read the wrong side ( the BC side)! In doing so, they found a lung lesion on my left lung (again, same side where cancer was). My oncologist is not concerned stating that it…

Had the PET scan yesterday, now I look like a Heroin addict!
I found out my radiation oncologist does PETs at his office, so I scheduled this one there to avoid all the bs you have to go through when you get it at the hospital. Well, I think Rad. Doc.'s techs need to go for a refresher course in administering IVs. The first girl came in, very sweet, young and perky. I put out my…

Our dear New Flower - what a gift she is to us
We, my daughter and I met with New Flower in SF last night. It was such an honour to meet her, she has so much composure, strength and courage and beauty. Looking at her you would never know the real truth, that NED is cheating on her. We really enjoyed spending the evening with her at funky little restaurant called Sinbad…

Loss of son and then cancer diagnosis.
I lost my 24 yr old son on May 3, 2011. Two months later I was diagnosed with Stage 2 IBC. I had successful surgery and am now on Tamoxifen for the next 5 years. Does anyone out there have any coping strategies for someone going through grief and cancer treatment at the same time? I have a wonderful, supportive husband who…

I met Carol (Camul) today!!
She is delightful: smart, funny, lovely, kind, and, yes, a tad sarcastic (that's my favorite part:) We met in Carlsbad on a beautiful sunny day and had late lunch/early dinner and we talked and talked. My new avatar is a picture of the beautiful flowers she gave me. Thank you, Carol, for a wonderful afternoon. xoxo,…

NED is Cheating on me
After taking my second pill of ativan and still awake i need to share I know you hate to read as much as I hate to write about NED who left me after 4 years of pretty serious relationships. I had my PET on Monday, the date he left without notice and we have learnt about his behavior today. both my oncologist and my very…

Now for the photos
I posted a couple of photos on my expressions page http://csn.cancer.org/user/111056/view/expressions I think that might work. Of all the photos my daughter took, which were many, we either had goofy expressions on our faces, or they were out of focus, or our eyes were closed ...... so this is the best I could do without…

Totally off topic but normal news
Since NED has decided to desert a bunch of us, and the world is a bit gloomy, I thought that I would post about my weekend. I live in Colorado and flew to NY state to be a bridesmaid. I am 59 years old and actually there were 2 of us that are 59! One bride wore white and the other bride work her air force uniform. Yep you…

OMG
My mind is so pre-occupied with getting that stupid PET scan today that I forgot to call my Dad on Father's Day. I would like to call him today but I'm afraid I would start crying so I just emailed him an apology. For some reason a song has been replaying over and over again in my head and it's not even a song I usually…

Please remember - we are each UNIQUE!
I have recently noticed that there are many new here. It seems that often there are a lot of statements "This will happen" because that's what I did/what I experienced. We are each so unique - we can only give our experiences - not that whatever we have experienced will happen/not happen to anyone else. Winyan - The Power…

Taking A Count: (of pain)
Do you have pain in your hip, wrist, or arm? Which side? Do you have pain elsewhere? Did you have chemo or rads, or both or none? Does medication take away your pain? --- I have a lot of pain deep in my right hip and some pain in my right wrist, but only when I twist it like when removing a bottlecap. I had a masectomy on…

LAST CHEMO
So, this morning was my last chemo treatment. No fan fair from my husband or my girls... nada. I headed to the hospital for my blood draw and chemo. Only to find out my ANC dumped from 1.5 down to .9. Quite a shock since my counts had been climbing up each chemo. I asked if it was the Effexor that may have tanked it, since…

mets to lymph nodes?
Looking to see if anyone has any thoughts or experience with this? My original nodes were clear (3) with my lumpectomy ! But I recently had my first pet scan! The report shows 2 swollen lymph nodes! One in neck and other in pelvis! Now waiting on doctors to decide what type of biopsy should be done! My least favorite word…

Little bump in the road, I guess?
I had a CT scan in March which showed a 7mm nodule in my right lung so the CT scan was repeated this past Monday. I got the results today and the nodule has increased to 13mm. I will get a PET scan and biopsy sometime between now and my next onc appt. in two weeks. So far I am remarkably calm and, well, maybe it will turn…

3rd chemo on Friday...this is getting harder to do!
I thought I would get through this just like the 1st chemo. As the next date approaches I am getting more and more depressed and irritated. Just don't want to lay down and let the stinkin' truck roll over me again! So tired all of the time, and friends and family want me to participate in visits I just can't do it! People…
