Those DREADED scans!
Hi ladies, Tomorrow (29th) I have my dreaded 3 month scans. Every scan since Dec. 2013 has been showing disease progression. I have been on irinotecan for 3 months. My dr. says we have more reason to hope, since this drug came back as one beneficial on the test. (Where they re-construct the tumors, can't remember what it's…

Has anyone had ROMA (risk of ovarian malignancy algorithm) test prior to diagnosis?
Hello all I have had an 8cm complex ovarian cyst for at least 11 months. It was found during an u/s to date my pregnancy but my OB assured me that due to my age (31) it was probably nothing and recommended we check it after delivery. I was scheduled to have it and the ovary removed but my ROMA came back high so now I have…

Stage 1 Mucinous and 23
Hi, this past August I was diagnosed with what it seems to be stage 1c mucinous that ruptured during surgery. Prior to surgery my ca-125 was…

Perineal burning?
Hi there. I am going through my third regimen of Carbo/Taxol, started 5 weeks ago. Suddenly on the 26th I started experiencing some burning in the perineal area. No improvement in the last three days, and there is a definite "ouch" on urination, but it doesn't feel like a bladder infection, which I used to get years ago.…

cisplatin & chronic kidney disease CKD
I was recently diagnosed with Stage III CKD (chronic kidney disease). I have no known risk factors i.e. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight, family history, race, etc. except my age,74. I've been pondering this and wondered if it could be related to my ovarian cancer treatment almost 17 years ago. I had 6…

The cost of cancer
I have pretty much had it as the medical community is sucking every last cent out of us. I am on SS disability, my husband was forced to take early retiremenrt during the latest recession (which is supposed to be over...ha-ha) so he has reduced SS benefits and a small pension (which automatically takes $350 monthly for his…

I finally finished my book! Hope to spread OVC awareness

I am not an author, but just a heartbroken sister, who loved her baby sister. I wrote a book, Julie's Journey, to honor her and…

Fighting the beast again.
I don't come on here much. I guess Facebook has me in it's clutches. I am in treatment for my second recurrence. It is going well. After first chemo I had a 7-day stint in the hospital, 4 days in ICU. My onc adjusted my chemo dosage (I wasn't aware that could be done) and has me take Neupogen for 7days following chemo.…

Radiation for ovarian cancer
Has anyone had good results with radiation for ovarian cancer? Just finished 6 rounds of topotecan. Counts are climbing.
