nutrition
There are so many different schools of thought on good nutrition after cancer treatment I can't decide which way to turn... I am currently doing weight watchers and that is working okay, except when sugar cravings overcome me. I read an article yesterday I should be eating all raw fruits and veggies. I can't believe I would get enough protein eatng that way, and I know I need some carbs. What have others found that works well?

go to WW because even after three bouts of cancer I am overweight and turn to food for comfort as I have since I was a child. When I am following the WW plan I eat a more balanced diet. But of course each person determines what is right for them. On this board I have read about many different choices. I have books and have watched TV programs about nutrition. I posted here once that i would chew rocks if that would prevent cancer from returning but i don't believe there is definitive proof of a particular eating regime that will do that. As I feel about other aspects of life, I believe in, live and let live. I have seen lively discussions here in which ladies disagreed with others opinions. Everyone has a right to their opinion. For me I also believe the saying, everything in moderation, including moderation. If I want something I'm going to have it. I have cancer, my future is uncertain, I will not deny myself. I don't think I have helped you much but I guess what im saying is you have to decide what is right for you. I wish you the very best.

Sugar
I just had a conversation at the Onc's office yesterday about sugar, carbs, protein etc. My Onc says if they had ANY credible studies that sugar feeds cancers cells that they we put giant posters up all over the office to warn patients. Of course, healthy eating is the best for all of us. I love sweets and enjoy them in moderation and every now in then in excess, hey I'm a 9 year survivor and feel I deserve some fun.
My Onc's office is more concerned that their patients drink enough water each day and that they small meals more often to keep up energy. ((((Hugs))))) Maria
