My dr. called with yesterday's scan results. I start Gemzar Friday.
Not great, but could be worse. A few of the lymph nodes were stable on topotecan. Some increased in size. He doesn't see any reason to stay on topotecan. I start Gemzar Friday. Any one have any thoughts on gemzar? thanks, Carla

starting carbo/gemzar/avastin next week ugh
Saw my gyn/onc today and had my recurrence confirmed. For one wonderful fleeting moment, it looked like I could start the Clovis 2 Parp trial that just started at Siteman Center this week......until the fact that I had had breast cancer within 3 years disqualified me from this and all other parp trials...I had been warned…

Persistent nausea
Hi! Just joined this site today. I was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer in December 2011. Since then I have had surgery, gone thru 6 rounds of carbo/taxol which gave me 14 months of remission and when my counts started to creep up (18) had 6 rounds of Doxil/Avastin. It seemed to be working but then my counts started…

Post-chemo insomnia
Just wondering...why do you suppose I got assigned to the "new" nurse today? I like all the regular nurses...I didn't want a new nurse. Why me? Because I am a nurse myself? That intimidates some nurses; it causes other nurses to be extra kind, like we are kindred spirits. Maybe because I try to be a really nice person. I…

Immunotherapy (from The Clearity Foundation newsletter)
Immunotherapy offers a woman battling ovarian cancer a way to further personalize her cancer treatment using her own immune system to attack the tumor. Some of these immunotherapies are generated by using live tumor tissue that has to be properly saved at the time of surgery, so it is critical to know the requirements for…

ca125
On Thursday I had my 3rd round of Doxil. My Oncologist told me that me Ca has come down from 250 to 149 which surprised him because it usually doesnt happen this early on. He might consider doing 6 rounds instead of 4 depending on how future labs turn out. Anything to avoid radiation. Quite happy

Went to my GYN that did ca 125 and internal US. CA 125 came back at 85 and ultrasound showed a couple small follicle cyst and a distorded endo stripe. So a…

Has anyone been treated for Hydronephrosis as a side effect
During my recent CT scan and then PET/CT, it appears that my soft tissue mass has grown slightly and that I have what is called moderate hydroureteronephrosis. Apparently the ureter from my left kidney to my bladder is going through the soft tissue and is getting dialated. I now have to see an urologist. I was wondering if…

Those dreaded scans
Hi Ladies, I had my scans this morning. This is after 3 months of topotecan. Just hoping and praying that it's helping. Easy drug to tolerate for the most part. I hate these scans. I am SO nervous about the results. Wish I would overcome becoming so scared, but I haven't been able to so far. Hopefully I will know something…

Opinion from Moms
I am NED after having had stage 3C ovarian cancer. Tomorrow is my 2 month anniversary of ending chemo. Now that my hair is growing back, I finally went out in public this week without a scarf or hat. This was a huge step and I was very proud of getting past my vanity and celebrating that I made it through. Everywhere I…

Repeating drugs? How many different drugs are there for OVCA?
Hi Ladies. I posted that my latest scans were not good, as lymph nodes in the abdominal increased not only in size, but now there are numerous more, including a mantle of them. I was stable for about ten months with Doxil. I am now on topotecan, 3 weeks on, one week off. I have had 3, and resume this upcoming Friday. Dr.…
