Etoposide in Canadazenmama said:First question that pops into
First question that pops into my mind: I wonder if Etoposide is being used for Ovarian cancer treatment in Canada? I haven't done extensive research, but at first glance, seems not. Too bad.
Brand name Etoposide injection has been approved by Health Canada since 1994 as well as generic Etoposide since 2013 for the following conditions:
I) small-cell carcinoma of the lung
II) non-small cell carcinoma of the lung
III) malignant lymphoma (histiocytic type)
IV) Testicular malignancies (notably germ cell tumours including seminomas)http://webprod5.hc-sc.gc.ca/dpd-bdpp/dispatch-repartition.do?lang=eng
Judging by the similar situation with Avastin, I think that if your oncologist prescribes Etoposide for recurrent ovarian cancer "off-label" it should be available but not covered by provincial insurance and you will be stuck paying for it. I could ask next time I see my ONC (tomorrow).

Maybe I can loan you my testicles.. after all, I can't tell you when I last used them anyway.. Truly, I hope you get to try that treatment.. Now since you work on this side of the border, can't you apply for coverage here as well..? (I bet you already looked in to that.. but...).
