Your thoughts on taking estrogen ?
Hey everybody, Sorry if this topic has been discussed before but I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience/thoughts about taking estrogen to relieve hot flashes/night sweats. Prior to my hysterectomy in August 2009 I was still menstruating. So of course the surgery put me immediately in menopause. My…

Recurrent Ovarian Cancer - 4th time
Hello. Would like to hear from anyone that has had a similar situation. I was diagnosed in 2003 with stage 2c Ovarian Cancer. I was 38 years old. Surgery and carbo/taxol was done. 4 years later, in 2007, I had a recurrence. Again, carbo/taxol. I went into remission until 2009. carbo/taxol again. Again this year, another…

results of yesterday's CT/PET & CA125
Well, not the news I wanted but it could have been much worse. My CA125 went up from 34.6 to 53.9, and 2 of the 3 lymph nodes that had disappeared on my last CT/PET lit up again. (sigh) The news on my scan is unofficial, but here's what I learned: The para-aortic lymph node that lit up is really tiny and wasn't even…

Update
Well everyone, we saw the oncologist yesterday, and my mom did ask the right questions I think, and the doctor handled them really well. First of all, my mom asked what would happen if she chose not to have chemo. The doctor explained that there was some cancer left behind, and that while it would not grow overnight, that…

Thanks, ladies....and yay me
I had chemo today and asked the folks behind the desk if I could provide a box/basket for head covers, take one-leave one kind of thing. They said, "Yes." So before next month, I will put together something attractive to hold them and drop it off with a starter set of hats and scarves I can not use. (Except for the red…

Can anyone use these?
A number of my friends have signed me up for free hats from a variety of groups, web sites, etc, or in some cases, purchased and sent me hats, scarves, etc. I really appreciate their thoughtfulness. However, some of them don't fit (I have a very small head), and some just aren't my style. If anyone would like one or more…

What the H to eat???
Hi Ladies, I was surfing around and saw a new study on BPA in canned food. One of the highest ever recorded levels was in one I keep in my pantry all the time. With pesticides, mercury, BPA, etc., etc. what is safe to eat? I'm not even sure organic is worth the money! And, can I eat outdoor grilled food? I notice now that…

Back to Onc/Gyn past Wednesday
I did go back for my scheduled appointment with my onc/gyn Wednesday and let her know what Dr. Copeland from The James Center had said (previous post).
