Stage 4 feel good story
Here's another inspiring story from the Inspire message boards. I was diagnosed in 2004, (stage 4) treated and had a three year remission. In 2008, my Ca 125 went from 7 to 48 in three months time. A week later it was 62 and a week after that it was 82. The ct scan showed only fluid in the pelvic area. My doc assured me…

Saundra's doing even better
Joe here: the doctor removed the nose tube, a big relief. Today the colon doc said she could have nourishment. She ate some egg, grits (a corn cereal), and drank some coffee. Oh, first she had an orange popsicle -- said it was wonderful. Haven't seen her primary oncologist yet. We were told Friday that nourishment would…

To those of you with this cancer
What can I do for mom who is having pain with the mass in her stomach- (had one round of chemo last week) What are things that you found "comforting" (soft nighties, etc) and where did you get your hair wraps? She didn't lose any yet- but I know it's coming. I see some really stylish and just cute plain ones online. I…

Anyone know the answer to this?
I have heard that once you have a recurrence, your disease is considered chronic and instead of plain old ovarian cancer, you are said to have recurrent ovarian cancer. That all makes sense. The part I am confused about is this.....is remission a one-shot deal? Has anyone had one recurrence, gone back into treatment, then…

Lupron shot
Yesterday, I went in for my lupron (anti-estrogen) shot. Yes, a shot!!! It took all of 5 seconds, and felt so strange to not go down to the chemo room for a 4 hour infusion. My doctor talked me into getting lupron, as he says he has had more success with it than Femara. Just personal preference, so I went with it. Either…

I am scheduled for debulking surgery on 6/21 and then three more chemos. I know everyone is different but how long after the last chemo would I be expected to be released by my doctor? A Decision to be made
Hello ladies, I have a difficult decision to make. My oncologist, who did my surgery, is retiring this month. I have to choose a new doc in the group. The one who has the most experience has a very bad bedside manner, so I'm told.. I experienced him once in the hospital and he was pretty nasty. The other Docs are very…

Bone biopsy results
The biopsy came back that I have myelodysplasia, so we were told no more chemo. Lots of questions asked, but not all the ones I should have asked. Guess we'll have a lot of questions for the appointment with my gyn/onc next week. Randy asked about a bonemarrow transplant and we were told, because I have ovarian cancer, I…

When to expect hair loss?
I am getting weekly treatments (once a week, every week for 8 wks). Tomorrow will be my 4th treatment and I still have my hair, but the Dr. told me I would definitely lose it all (because of the Etoposide I'm getting). I thought they told me it would start to go around 2 weeks after my 1st treatment. I think I'm starting to…
