My 2nd look surgery last week revealed that the cancer is all over my abdomen. They drained the fluid that was causing my pain. Saw the gyn/oncologist today and he is recommending I go back on the original protocol of 18 weeks carboplatin/taxol which put me in remission for over 18 months. He's also recommending a clinical trial of an anti-body called "morab-003" which is given in conjunction with the carbo/taxol.

I've never heard this drug discussed here and wonder if anyone has experience with it ?

This antibody works with your immune system and helps the chemo drugs identify the bad cancer cells (apart from good cells). At least that's how I understand it.

    No, but I will be
No, but I will be interested. I just started chemo carbo/taxol for clear cell 1C Grade 3. You indicated your tumor is grade 2. My gyn/onc told me that any clear cell tumor is always considered grade 3. He did tell me that it looked like the surgery "got it all" but that clear cell is "slippery" in regards to recurrence even with early stage and good surgery results. What did your gyn onc tell you in regards to tumor grade and anything else about your clear cell diagnosis.

Hi Paula! I feel very sad
Hi Paula! I feel very sad after I read yours post.I did not heard about this drug. But I read interesting artical. If you will go on MSN home page and click on NEWS, and then click on HEALTH, under EXPLORE, line 9 artical "Newsweek: Could underwater bacteria cure cancer?" It is about cyenobacteria called Simploca emits a toxin that attacks tumors. reseachers hope to have FDA-approved treatment on the market in about 10 years - the typical timeline to develope a new drug. May be your clinical trial some how related to this? I wish you good luck with yours treatment. Drink cranberry juice, I read it helps chemo to kill more cancer cells. (((HUGS))), Zina.

    good luck
Since you responded to your initial regimen with 18months chances are good you will respond postively again! There is a morab trial at my facility. It is a double blind either taxol alone or taxol with the morab. SInce it is double blind you dont' know what you are getting. I looked into the trial but it was decided I would go into a different trial. I'm not sure what the protocol is for the one your dr is recommending. GOOD LUCK!!!!

hello...fnally coming up for air after seveal rough daysweeks
    Hello dear friends,

I'm finally feeling somewhat normal again after a rough 1-1/2 weeks. Had my first infusion of carbo/taxol on Dec 2 along with the morab anti-body. It's a blind trial so not sure if I'm actually getting any of the anti-body. I get chemo every 3 weeks (the usual protocol) plus the anti-body every week. I've had such a hard time this go around getting the proper balance of meds (for the tumors remaining in my abdomen), nausea, constipation, headaches and body aches from the chemo. Good grief.

I met with a chemo/pain management expert last week and I think she was a miracle. She spend a ton of time with me and we went over every single pill I'm taking and made out a game plan (it's actually a spreadsheet!) for meds I take every day plus other meds depending on the symptom.

It feels so great to feel good today ! I pray that the carbo/taxol will shrink all tumors in my abdomen and that the anti-body research trial brings great results for all women.

sending blessings and strength to all,

    Paula
