Update from the GreenHouse
Paula and Carlene--LOVE LOVE LOVE you guys! (and everyone else, too!) Tina, I hope you're doing well--miss you honey--sending healing thoughts out to the universe for you! Linda (all of the Lindas and Nancy (all of the Nancys, too!) thinking about you and praying for you daily!
My latest news...where to begin...
Dad is home from rehab for his knees...his legs are still swollen and red with cellulitis, but he's walking. First thing the 71 year old man with acute cirrhosis of the liver did when he got home? Opened a da~n beer!!!! So, I'm guessing he's feeling fine.
Hubby Ken is no longer in acute renal failure (YAY), still whiny and in pain (Boo) Playing call of Duty Black Ops every waking moment that he's home from work (Boo Call of Duty, Yay Back to Work!)
Daughter Aly cuddled with me on the sofa while he played one night last week (YAY) Spends most of her time on the computer playing some online game with friends she's never met in real life (Boo)
lol..see a trend here?
Now for my updates:
Weird lump on my leg...not a blood clot. Had an MRI yesterday, will have results maybe Friday? Went for a squishy boob screening at the same time. The tech was wonderful and took great care with my port. That's the good part. The not so good part, there's an area of "concern." They took extra films and will compare them with old films and let me know for sure, but they don't "think" it's anything major. I'll know more in two weeks. (I'm thinking carbo/taxol would have put the kabosh on anything that was trying to grow, but who the heck knows). Decided not to share that bit of news with the family, I really can't deal with my husband complaining about how stressed HE is and whining even more about HIS anxiety (which manifests itself with physical bouts of puking, chest pains and loud comments about the amount of clonapine (sp.) he has to take to deal with my health issues.
I stopped working out because of the lump on my leg, and I've gained weight (I don't miss chemo but I do lament the weight gain that I've garnered since being off of chemo--- going on 20 + pounds now)
I've been in a funk. No one in my house is ready for the holidays, my birthday came and went this year without much notice from my family. (I really wanted a Keurig coffeemaker, but hubby says no, we already have a perfectly good coffeepot). No one is doing much to help around the house, so it's not Holiday Ready at all ;(. I took tomorrow off, not sure what I'll do with it. Probably laundry and cleaning.
Darnitall, this sounds really whiny. I'm really not this person! I'm supposed to be the PollyFreakin'Anna on this board! On the bright side, looking forward to my one year anniversary. Hopeful for another clean scan and good bloodwork!
My new Mantra:
"Alice laughed: "There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
Alice in Wonderland
Believe in impossible things and anything is possible!
Love you all and I'm sorry I've been absent from the boards for so long.
HUGS!
Leesa

((((Hugs)))). Want me to come over there and smack your family upside the head?0 -
Hi Leesa
It is really nice to read your post and I am able to visualise your home life. I am sorry that you are having to cope with family members with ill health as you are only just beginning to recover yourself and you need to have pamper time for you. I love your spirit and "no" you are not whiny, you are a normal person who has undergone a MAJOR trauma in your life and have just cause to have a moan. These boards are the perfect place to have a moan because we all understand what you are going through.
I love your mantra...............it is similar to my own which goes something like this:
"my future is now very uncertain so I am going to live for the day and pack in as much as I can. Then one day they may find a cure"
I am usually a very up-beat person about my illness and always do my best to put other people at ease with it by making jokes and talking openly. However, sometimes I have down days where I just want to stay at home and not speak to anyone.
I am really pleased you are still posting on here now and again because your posts always offer hope and help where I for one don't feel quite so alone with this cancer.
Love Tina xx0 -
Here's the plan
You need:
Order the Keurig (a perfect good coffepot is like a perfect good old game like PacMan)
Call MerryMaids
Duct Tape
Red Velvet Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory
Drink your coffee with cheese cake and watch the maids clean.
Place duct tape over hubby mouth as required.
Don't worry about the weight gain: tell people it is a side effect of cancer.
I don't have any advise about the daughter. I have one and can't figure her out either.
Praying that the concern is NOT a concern.
Mary
PS Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Leesa, Happy Birthday to you.0 -

I know that takes a huge weight off your mind. I had the same thing happen to me. I had to wait for two other centers to fax over previous mammo results/films. The stress was enough to give me a heart attack.
They are especially diligent when it comes to women who have already experienced some form of cancer, and particularly gyno cancers. In my case the "something" was dense tissue in one breast. Turned out to be nothing.
I talked my gastro doc into moving my colonoscopy up a year, just for my own peace of mind. I have never had a colonoscopy that did not show multiple polyps - until 2010. Like you, I figured the chemo probably killed off anything that might have been problematic. As bad as I hate having a flashlight and a camera shoved up my backside, it was worth it to get the all clear. One less thing to worry about.

I love reading your posts.
I love reading your posts. You're in about the same place as I am. My one year "cancerversary" is today. I was hoping to be cancer free by now but I'm not...oh well! My 18 yr old son is into that "Black Ops" game...BOO!! My husband just got layed off from his job of 14 yrs, so he has picked up the slack around the house thankfully.
I'm so glad all your results have been good. Enjoy the holidays and don't let anyone bring you down!

Dear Leesa! Ovarian cancer
Dear Leesa! Ovarian cancer is very hard on every one: survivor, family members and friends; emotionaly and physically. It takes time before every body can adjust, if they do. I think it takes more then a year. I will be A 4 years survivor in February. Had a very hard time with every one for more then one year. Now I did find a new normal, because every thing and every one changed with my illness. I like yours sense off humor, but I do feel your pain. You are close to one year, I hope, and very positive you will feel better soon. Have a happy Holidays! (((HUGS)), Zina.0 -
Celebrate with coffee !
I hope you ordered the coffee pot , wrap it up and put a tag saying from your loving family. You might actually convince them it was their idea.
