Diagnosed while Uninsured
This a copy of the response to Liz who posted her question in the "Mother-in'Law diagnosed with ovarian cancer" thread. Saundra suggested that a new thread might get more information for her. Dear Liz, I too was diagnosed when I was uninsured. The company I had worked for closed up, ending the insurance I had through them,…

Mother-in-law diagnosed with ovarian CA
I'm new to the forum and have to say that I'm so impressed with the amount of support and information that is available here. My mother-in-law was diagnosed in August with what they thought was stage 1 ovarian CA. Now they have changed their diagnosis to 2 or even 3 (how this happens I'm not sure). Anyway, she's getting…

I am a caregiver to someone with Ovarian Cancer
I am my mothers caregiver. She was diagnosed on October 16, 2008 with stage 4 ovarian cancer. We rushed her to the hospital because her stomach looked like there was a beach ball in there and she couldn't breathe well. She is currently going for her 5th round of chemo (taxil and carboplatin). My thing is that I know she is…

33 yo with large papillary serous cystadenoma...what are my odds?
Hi there, I'm 33 and because of 4 months of increasingly heavy periods and spotting, bloating, etc, went into the OBGYN. I was sent for a U/S due to a swollen uterus, which ended up being a normal uterus with a very large ovarian cyst sitting behind it. Measured 12cm on U/S. They said it was mostly fluid filled and felt it…

Angel wings for Coach Kay Yow
Hello to everyone! As a North Carolinian, I feel a duty to say thanks to a very publicly courageous cancer fighter, NC State Women's Basketball coach, Kay Yow. Kay Yow "got her angel wings" - I like that too, Karen - Saturday morning (yesterday). Granted, she had breast cancer, not ovarian, but she brought a tremendous…

Gemzar cancelled
Hi everyone, no chemo yesterday as my platelets were only 46. I guess its from the nexavar?? I have a raised red area on my…

Hi all - I was wondering if anyone has undergone surgery to remove tumors and then had, while still in surgery, a heated chemotherapy bath in their abdomen to kill off any remaining tumors? The surgery is followed by 5 days of interperitoneal chemotherapy. I've actually got colon cancer with mets to pericolic fat so Dr.…

Doctor's Report
My CA-125 last week was 51 as compared to the 48 of last month. My oncologist said that a difference of 3 points was within the margin of statistical error and not to worry. For the first time he acknowledged the chemo causes the joint pain and wrote a prescription for naproxin sodium (aleve) for 500 mg taken two times a…

In the past year I have developed very large prominent veins in my feet, lower legs, and on the backs of my hands. It is as though they were fine one day and…

joint pains?
Hello ladies, good to be back again. For those of you who know me, I've been doing pretty good. My last chemo was in July, although the cancer is still there, it's not doing anything, as he puts it "they're just winking at us". I go back Feb. 5th for my third ct check up. Weight gain, oh boy! I don't really recognise…

Surgery date confirmed
Hi ladies, my doctor in the US was able to read all the PET/CT etc. Recurrence is confirmed in the liver, kidney and spleen. None of these seem to be SOL (space occupying lesion?) and only on the surface. He will do a laparodomy and debulking surgery and remove these, (he uses his argon laser tool for ablation I believe)…

what should I be watching for if there is a reocurrance?
I am 15+ months cancer-free and very proud! But I can't help feeling concerned about it coming back. I was stage 3. I'm not bloated and there's no pain. I did have a bowel obstruction in Dec. 2007 but nothing showed up in the tests and it went away while I was hospitalized. I have regular 3 month checkups and have one at…

My Moms CA125 is down to 89 from 1575, but I still have questions.
Hello everyone, My Mom was diagnosed with stg4 ovarian cancer around 6-8 months ago, I loose track of time. In the beginning she had to have fluid pulled off her lungs (plura) about 4 times before it got under control. She had a partial hysto in 1970, but they left her ovaries. She has had around 8 chemo's and her CA125…
