Update on my Mom
My Mom is at home. Since February 21st (imagine that.. the day my Dad passed away 16 years ago). She started to get a bit better, and tks to God the tube was removed last Tuesday so that has made her feel a lot better. With the tube she could barely speak, and barley even swallow saliva. She has a bad anemia which has put…

Anti-Estrogen side effects
Well, we got the results on the phone of the bone density test and the Femara is doing a job on my bones. I have a new prescription for Fosamax that I have taken in the past successfully. I did ask if the two would offset each other and was told "no". So the fact is, although the anti-estrogen is holding back the cancer…

Listing - In Memory of Angela
This Morning I put a long listing detailing alternatives and treatments and now it is not here, did it get taken off for some reason, Why? All I want is to give people an alternative option - it was not intended for any advertising purpose. I feel taking it off is wrong when it could help people. Is there an…

Constipation
My MIL had her chemo last Tuesday. Like last time..she is in pain and discomfort due to lack of bowel movement. She has done just about everything. (Laxitives, stool softeners, suppositories etc) She says that she can not feel any fecal matter in her rectum when she inserts the suppository. She thinks it's stuck in the…

Toe Nail Loss
I did check past post on toe nail loss and saw that a few have lost their toenails after chemo treatment. I lost my right big toe nail and it is over half grown back. Now my left big toe is black and or purple and will probably come off sometime in the future. This is AFTER last chemo August 2008 and two treatments of…

What I've learned this week!
I have learned that if I start my day with offering it up to the Lord, if I keep Him in my mind while I'm awake, if everything I do (including working on computer) is offered as a prayer, and if I let Him control me I have no time to worry or fear!. I pray for all of you every night and I know the Lord is in control of all…

What I consider a Miracle
As you all know my Mom (77 yo) suffered intestinal blockage of her small bowel. The Dr. told me when we got to the ER that there were many blockages not just one, which made her case almost impossible. She had a nasogastrointestinal tube inserted to see if the small bowel could open up so that gas and fecal matter could go…

Good Week
Ladies, It was a great week in Galveston, Texas. We went with our church and met with the Friends Disaster Service to work on homes in the areas devastated by Hurricane Ike that hit in September. My husband and I worked at a couple's home with several others for 4 1/2 days. They were so appreciative and thankful for the…

Hi Everyone, No chemo today , last week it was postponed because of a low WHC this week because my CA- 125 went up 11 points and my Onc thinks the Doxil is no longer working. I never got below 34. Long Week
Hi Everyone, this has been a very long week. Thought I wasn't getting sick from this time only to run 103.1 fever by Thursday night, then Friday started other colon/rectal problems and continued through Saturday. Oh what a body goes through to survive both the cancer and treatment. :-) Anyway I have managed to keep up with…

CA-125 Up
Hi, I've been so upset, I just got my last reading after my 5th treatment of Doxil and it went from 34 to 45.6. The doctor was suppose to give me a break after I finished my last treatment of Doxil but I wonder. I'm going to have a Ct Scan on March 4th.I feel like I will never see remission. I've been on chemo non stop…

3rd recurrence... Has anyone been treated with only Gemzar?
Hello again... I was diagnosed in May 2006. I had 6 rounds of Paclitaxol, and then a recurrence only a few months after finishing the chemo. My Dr. then put me on IP Chemo (Cisplatin). I was able to handle 5 of those treatments. Well, I was only in remission for about 4 or 5 months when I got that distinctive "bloating"…

I talked to my oncologist and the tumor is there
I went and met with Dr. Li yesterday and asked her questions. She looked back in the chart and read the Sept. report that said all was clear. Then she read the January report and was puzzled as I am. She caledl the radiologist that read the report and he was being sent the films and would get back to her. She called a…

Estrogen and wrinkles
Ladies, I did look up past comments and did not find what I am wondering. Most of us on this discussion board have had a hysterectomy (total) I would assume. My question is what do you do about NO estrogen being produced in your body with no ovaries and what about wrinkles on the face, joints not lubricated, etc. etc. Do…

Great News!
My MIL was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005. She is taking another round of chemo now. (not so great news) However..she had the BRACA 1 & 2 tests. She tested positive in the BRACA2. My DH and I have two grown daughters we, of course, were very concerned about inheriting the BRACA2 gene. My DH had his BRACA2 test and…

Hi Ladies...
I haven't been on the computer in a couple of weeks so I just got done reading all the posts and I have a few things I'd like to say. Libby: CONGRATS on getting your hair cut and colored. I bet you are looking fabulous! Bonnie: Sorry I missed your birthday - belated birthday wishes to you! And what wonderful news on being…

New scan report
I saw the gyn/onc/surgeon today and we high fived. The scan showed no change, still clear since Oct. The Femara is holding the cancer cells back. The CA125 is stable at 50 and does not concern him. He did not even do a pelvic, since there was no change. He was not concerned with the cold that I am fighting. Aren't doctors…

The Blues
Okay ladies, I've got the blues. Not those blues, but the Blues that you see on those Highmark insurance commercials. My insurance coverage ended on January 1, because I have been unemployed since October of last year. Surgery
Good Afternoon Ladies, My sister had her surgery this morning at 7:30. When they said she was in recovery after less than an hour I knew that it all went well. Praise the Lord that the doctor said everything looked good. Of course we will have the path report, but considering she has the BRAC2 mutation like me, I am just…
