Immuno suppressed and narcotic farts
So, I am still working my way through the first week post chemo. My ears are ringing like no tomorrow. They feel really off. I have an inner ear disorder and this just feels like it is making it way worse. The constipation is still a problem. I label the topic narcotic farts, because bowel/gas movements are just so…

New here
I had surgery on May 18. I will begin chemo most like the last week of this month. I am in stage 3c Clear cell. I am VERY scared and worried. I had to make myself stop reading on-line because I was feeling as though I had no hope to survive this. I am 48. In April 2010 I lost my husband to a massive heart attack. I have…

Who's crafty?
My local NOCC chapter is soliciting squares for one or more ovarian cancer quilts, to be raffled off at our September 5K. All proceeds will go to ovarian cancer research and awareness. Any of you who might be interested in making a square, either for yourself or in memory of someone else, please let me know and I will get…

Relay for Life
Last night I walked in the opening ceremonies of our local Relay for Life. They termed it "the inspirational survivor's walk." It was very beautiful and I felt so much love and support. For me it was a last-minute thing but I plan to get involved somehow in the year-long process that culminates in the relay. Even though we…

I did it
I walked the the relay for life sponsered by the American Cancer Society. I had a great time and will do it agian next year. Our city has a stiletto walk for ovca next week but I can't participate, as can I can't wear high heels anymore. It hurts to much, but it is a great idea. Maybe the younger crowd can do it. Can any…

Primary Peritoneal Cancer (part 2)
Hi, like so many others on this board, I would like to see a separate board for PPC. If you look at the only other thread with this title, it goes on for a long time I think because those of us with PPC are immediately drawn to discussing our shared experience. I have some questions of others who have said they have PPC:…

Happy Moments..so few and far between
Mom is doing ok, we got through another chemo (#3). This has been a tough mountian, but she keeps climbing and we are all there with her. She has gained weight, is getting around the house and that makes me feel good. I know this will never get easier, but I have found acceptance and courage to face things that scare me…

Midnight flicks...and ramblings
So I am up be it my narcotic farts or anxiety about them, can't sleep. I was flipping through the channels and came upon Aliens 3. I was relating to Ripleys horror when she found out she had an alien in her. I could so empathize with her anger and grief. Those aliens took everything from her. Now they are using her body to…

Been called in to the oncologist's office - terrified. Second recurrence?
Hi - I just joined, looking for hope, comfort, and information on-line. I was just called a couple of days ago by my oncologist's office to come in for an appointment. I was just there a couple of weeks ago for my 3-month check. I had had a CT scan before hand, and she said nothing while I was there. I had the usual…

Surgery June 15
I passed blood late April and on May 4th was diagnosed with Invasive Squamous Cell Cancer of the Anus. I had a CT scan that revealed multiple masses in the pelvic bowel. I am T2N1 anal cancer and was scheduled for chemo and radiation treatments, but had to see the GYN surgeon first. He scheduled surgery asap and said I may…

Keeping up with the girls.....as usual
I got an email from Mawty (Marty White) and she will be going back into treatment, looks like. You may remember, she is a 3+ year survivor and has been on chemo the whole time, except for one brief respite of about 6 months. She's doing great, though. Just got back from Vegas, where she saw Paul McCartney live. I keep…

checking back in
Hi, Ho... slowly rejoining the world after the last two weeks of cisplatin/gemzar and them gemzar. The cisplatin puts me on my butt! I'll try to play catch up with all that is happening on the board. Just want you all to know that even when I can't be here that you all sustain me everyday. I'm going to have to restrain…

Advice
We're headed to meet with the medical oncologist who will put forth the treatment strategy which we're gauging will be more cisplatin/taxotere. This regimen was difficult for Linda to continue following four cycles (3 each) from September through December. But the chemotherapy did eliminate the tumor and her CA-125 dropped…

Info about surgery and rehab
Hi There. I am going for a hysterectomy - done laprascopically (sp?). I'm just wondering what to expect, how I will be and what my mobility will be like. Any idea how long I would be off work, not able to care for myself, my kids, etc. Dr said I would be in hospital for about 2 days. Should I be cooking for the next few…

If you lost your mom to this disease....
I am just venting. Tomorrow is exactly one year that my mom lost her hard fought battle with this god forsaken disease. She fought HARD. She was not ready to go. She loved us (her children) and her grand babies SO MUCH that she really was not ready to leave us. But the fact is that she fought this disease, that was stage…

Back of Hand or inside elbow?
Hello everyone, I don't visit this sight too often but I have a small problem/question. As some of you may already know, my ovarian cancer came back after almost 5 years in remission! I started carbo March 25, 2011. I have small veins and it is very difficult for the nurse, not to mention the soreness and discomfort I feel…

Still an overachiever!
So, you know how OVCA doesn't usually met to the brain? My little friend, is apparently quite the pioneer in this field and wandered right off into my left frontal lobe! First, let me thank you all for the prayers and thoughts recently. Surgery went well, and my staples will be removed on Tuesday. There were two lesions.…

Then about 5 AM I woke up with horrible chills and such terrible body aches, I didn't know what part hurt the most. Imagine the worst case of flu you ever had, times 10. This…

A question about HIPEC
Hi, I've been seeing quite a few things about HIPEC treatment. Has anyone ever had this treatment. My gyn/oncologist told me that it is a very rough treatment for a person to go through and could have alot of side effects. Just wondering if anyone on board has had this particular treatment yet. Thanks.

1st Week post chemo
The first days were a fog of steroids and exhaustion. I was tired, comatose, and twitchy at the same time. It was amazing the amount of energy that it took to justshift in bed. Those first days were sheer terror, too. I was scared. The exhaustion was at a level I had not reached before and did not think was possible. Sigh,…

Forgive me ladies
I just need to vent. I have been in remission since November 2010 and have felt great except for aches and pains. I have been going to an exercise program as well as yoga one day a week. I'm sure it will pass but I am feeling lonely and restless. I retired from my job at the end of November 2010 even though I had not…

HN125 new anti-OVCA therapy
This information is the result of preliminary research that will take years to trickle down to benefit any of us. Nevertheless, it is pretty exciting for me to find this as I am still somewhat of a "chemophobe." For those of you who get blurry-eyed when reading scientific research, let me break it down for you: Basically,…
