Tamoxifin
I had surgery, chemo and radiation and now am on Tamoxifin for 5 years. I am having a terrible time with hot flushes, two or three times a night I wake up and can't get back to sleep for about an hour. I'm tired! I'm 63 and work full time, so I need my rest. Talked to my gynecologist and he just said "There's nothing we…

Silly to be excited but......
I actually went to the optometrist yesterday evening and got the ok to be fitted for contacts again!!! She didn't find any lasting chemo effects and said I had enough lashes and tears to wear them. Yay!!! Gave them up at the beginning of chemo since I knew my eyes would be so dry and no lashes would be a problem. One more…

Finally did it!!
I posted a few weeks ago trying to gather information about post chemo hair and what to expect if I cut it. Well, I finally did it, cut off all my chemo curls and the funky white tips. It is now more of a pixie cut. I like it. It is super short again but now I don't have a mass of curls to deal with. I feel I can relate to…

anyone develop urinary infections that won't go away?
Since April, I have had 3 different antibiotics, two bloodwork orders, and 4 urine cultures. They can't identify the bacteria, because they can't separate them in the lab!!! The most recent labs were Friday, so no results yet. Drinking water, cranberry juice and sleeping a lot more than usual. This just seeems ifffy to me.…

Radiation burn question
Along my incision line just under my left breast I am super red. Over the weekend and for the past couple of treatments I've been applying the Biafine salve they prescribed to me this past Thursday. My question is can I just goop this on over my incision site, or is it best to let the area get some air as well and I should…

Third Mammogram and possible calcifications
A year ago it was suggested by my nurse practitioner that due to family history (grandmother and her two sisters had bc) I get a mammo. I did and results found abnormal spots but likely benign. I was to return for a follow up. I couldn't due to the fact that I was pregnant at the time (I'm now 37) and then breastfeeding,…

What do you think of 4+ hours waiting time?
What do you think of 4+ hours waiting time to see oncologist/NP? Do you think it's excessive? I think it speaks for itself how good/bad the entire department is...there isn't an emergency or some such. They constantly misplace charts, frequently call to cancel appointments and then call back to un-cancel; generally just…

I have one more Chemo treatment to go and then I may have to decide on a mastectomy or bilateral mastectomy I would like to hear what you have decided on and what to expect after the surgery. Also, if you have any great tips on how to deal with the loss of one or both breast would be appreciated.

Had a break from bone mets
I am looking for others that may have broken a bone due to bone mets. I broke my humerus in half last October due to spots in the bone. I have had surgery and a pin put in. I still have discomfort at the sight of the break. More so after a lot of use. Sometimes it is sore to the touch. The ortho guy says I still have some…

I need a 'getting ready for chemo' list
for a young coworker who was just dx'd. I know this has been posted before, but my computer is running slow and I can't find the thread I was looking for. So I want to put together a bag. I know I want to get a blanket and she loves word jumbles - so a book of that - what else? Help! Thank you, Sue

A good day - lunch with friends
While the ladies were lunching on the West Coast, here on the East Coast Missrenee, JK1952 and I had lunch at a lovely Greek restaurant. I have met both Renee and Joyce previously, but they only met today. We had nonstop conversation - well, it stopped a moment when we dug into the Baklava ice cream! It is most encouraging…

I KNOW It's 'for my own good'......BUT......
So, I happily went to my orthopod appt for my frozen shoulder, that I got while ice skating. He said, "This is such a typical injury, normally I would just give you a Cortizone shot, and that would be that. But since you are a double cancer survivor, I'm going to order an MRI first, just to rule out mets. You know, when…
