it's not too soon for side effects
You are right on target as far as I'm concerned. I had swelling and pain in the breast pretty much right away. And tired! I kept nodding off at work about 3-4 hours after each treatment. Literally conked right out at my desk several times! Our secretary said she would hurl paper airplanes at me to wake me up if she saw me sleeping! I was told exercise helped with the tiredness and that was true but I found getting to the gym was a trial so don't beat yourself up if you can't do it. Just a last word of encouragemnt, I'm 1 1/2 weeks out of radiation and my energy level is better, rash and redness are gone and it's getting a little easier to get to the gym. And remember if you have any concerns, tell your doctors/nurses and the radiation center. They are there to help you. Good luck. Barb0 -

Side effects
I finished number 24 yesterday, woo hoo! and can absolutely agree that the tiredness is the radiation. I don't have it every day but it will run in spurts, especially if I have less nighttime sleep or extra activities. Seems like I feel really good one day and of course do more and then pay the next day.
I also started Tamoxafen 1 week into radiation and am having a few "adjustments" with that.
Hang in there,

Rads will wear you down. I don't think there is any set date, as, we are all different. My rads oncologist didn't want me on tamox during rads. Try to get as much rest as you can and even take naps during the day if possible. Good luck to you!

My breast swelled
My breast swelled immediately! It was so swollen it was bigger than my other breast and hurt!! The first week was the worst for swelling and pain. It got better as it went along. By the third week the swelling was down but the exhaustion up. I was told it was a good thing that it reacted like that since it proved the treatments were working. Take time for yourself. Nap when you can. Try to sleep with a pillow under your breast. I found it felt better if there was no pressure from hanging to one side. Some nights I slept on my back since it felt best that way. Remember to cream yourself~ I burnt, but the peeling wasn't so bad. It looked like I had rubber skin and I thought it would peel off in one piece, that's how thick it looked, but I kept on creaming it and it just went away w/o peeling much. Good luck with your treatments. Hope they aren't too bad.

Rads will exhaust you, or, they do most, not all. But, my breast never got swollen. Hoping rads will get better and easier for you.
