Tips on how to keep my mind from wandering
Good morning sisters! I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday. I got carried away and before I knew I had walked over 6 miles in the park. On my way to the car I got dizzy and nauseous, on top of it I had these weird spots on my legs, they looked like spider webs. Yes, I went there, and yes I freaked out a bit. Which is not…

Back to work I go
Don't really want to but can't wait any longer for SS diability to make a decision and husband refuses to work. He wants to just draw his SS check. Problem is he spends more than we have coming in. I hope my brain will work so that I can hold on to the job. I have downgraded to HR Specialist. Not the money I am use to…

Chemo #1 down
Had my first chemo on Friday June 25th. They put the chemo port in on Thursday. I think having the port surgery one day and the chemo the next was a little much but have survived. Have got along pretty well, they gave me a nausea drug to take 1 hour before chemo started and then take a pill for two days around the same…

Diep reconstruction
Hi. I had a double mastectomy and now have expanders in place. I've had them in for several months because I had radiation in Sept. '10. I have been thinking all along that I would have implants put in when the time comes (most likely October '11). Now I am wondering whether I should look into Diep reconstruction. Is there…

Is it true that you should have your implants replaced every 5 or 10 years?
I saw on the world news the other night that one should have their implants replaced every 5, or, at the latest 10 years due to a possible leakage or rupture from them. Is this right? I didn't know you would have to do this. And if you do, will your insurance still pay for it? Just wondered if that is what the pink sisters…

im 14 and my mom died of breast cancer
Last year my mom passed away after a very long cancer experience. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 4 then went into remission when I was 7. And when I turned 8 the cancer came back, but in her spine and got worse and worse. When I turned 13 it spread to the liver and about a week later she passed away.…

vent - husband being a jerk
I was diagnosed 3 weeks after my mother-in-law died. For about 8 months my husband kept blaming me for getting cancer. "I haven't been able to mourn my mother because of this." Like I asked God to give me breast cancer right then. He told me this at least once a month. Then he lost his job right before my…

Whooppeeee!!!!
I saw my medical oncologist and my general surgeon today for check-ups. With no prompting, my oncologist told me she could safely say I was "CURED". Later my surgeon told me I had "No Evidence of Disease". This is the first time either has used these terms and I have to say it felt GREAT!! I am off the Femara and will…

Question for those on (or who had) TC (taxotere/cytoxan)
I am in the middle of four rounds of Taxotere/Cytoxan (TC). My doctor said that after the four rounds, if I am handling the treatment well, he wants to do two more for a total of 6. The first oncologist I saw said 4 rounds was enough. Apparently, there are studies underway now to determine if the standard treatment should…

I've been thinking about you ever since your post last week about your husband signing up for online dating....how are you holding up? Let us know how we can support you? (Personally, my vote is for Double Whammy's son-in-law Guido, but maybe that's just me.) Traci

I have made it half way through chemo. So far I have only had to use intermittent FMLA about one day out of every two weeks. Hoping to be able to do the same through the second half of chemo.

BRCA1 gene mutation
I had genetic testing a while back & got my results that I am positive for the BRCA1 gene. This upsets me most because I have two young, beautiful, spunky little daughters. My mom had breast cancer also, and her mom died of ovarian cancer when she was 52. I have my appointment with my gynecologist the first week of July to…

Camp Kesem- for kids with PARENTS who have cancer
If you have young kids, you need to check out Campkesem.org. If there is one near you, check for openings. It is the most fabulous thing that cancer will do for your kids. It is funded, organized and run by college kids, who most likely have had parents with cancer. I was kind of worried about sending my 7 and 11 year old…

Scared to death of Taxotere - need some success stories
I've had 4 AC treatments and one Taxol. I didn't have an immediate allergic reaction to Taxol but two days later I was in the hospital for 2 weeks with a temperature and "ground glass opacity" showing on a CT scan. It was a delayed allergic reaction. I've been off of everything for a month. The "ground glass opacity" is…

I've never felt so loved :) You are all SO amazing!!
As many of you know, I've been a bad pink sister and haven't been on here enough lately and I need to discipline myself to get on here more often, because it truly lifts me in every aspect of my life, and I need to help others as well, I have a lot of experience, strength and hope that I should be passing on. First: I want…

Anti-depressants
I finally gave in and went to my doc about stress etc. He's going to prescribe and SSRI and I remember seeing here that some were better with our hormone drugs than others. I'm taking anastrozole (arimidex) and wondering if anyone has any insight. I'm thinking lexapro was good and he's prescribing wellbutrin as well. My…

Update: Dent under the arm?
Good morning pink sisters! I am wondering, has any of you had a dent under your arm when you lift it, at the top, right side? I had sugery back in February, and my sentinal nodes were removed (all came back negative). Now I just noticed when I lift my arm, there is a dent on that side, but far from the surgery site - at…
