Best cancer center?
Hi everyone: My husband was diagnosed with early stage hpv + throat cancer about a year ago. We realized we had to go for the best care possible…

10 years and grateful
Hi, I used to be on this board every day. It was a lifeline. I wsa very frightened and hurting. Anal Cancer put me through a lot too. But I am happy to say even though my cancer was late stage, we beat it back with the protocol treatment, chemo and radiation, simultaneously. For me it was brutal. I am alergic to Sulfa and…

Just Diagnosed - Scared and Stressed about doctor selection
Hi all, during a routine annual mammogram followed by a biopsy I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My radiologist said I would need a lumpectomy and suggested I go to a doctor named Dr Mcntoch out of Englewood hospital in NJ (very close to where I live) who is highly recommended. I also called a trustworthy organization…

Shifting my attention slightly
Hello ladies, Does anyone know about changes in microsatellite instability from "stable" to "high?" And what about changes from mismatch repair deficiency "absent" to "present?" I thought the designation was always one way or another and was imprinted in all your cells. I think now it is dependent on the tumor tissue. I am…

Post Esophagectomy
My husband was diagnosed in February with early stage 1 esophageal cancer. He underwent a transhiatal esophagectomy on May 17th. Lymph nodes and tissue surrounding his esophagus were biopsied and all came back negative and he has been deemed cancer free. What I am dealing with now as his caregiver is his mental state. He…

Questions to ask before starting radiation about how the radiation machine works
Hi, I have come up with a list of questions I wish I had known needed to be asked about what my eyes would see and what my ears would hear while the radiation machine is moving around me. The only information I was given was that the treatments would be "quick", which I interpreted to mean "the same", and it really scared…

Prayers please for my firend
I've tried to get her to join us but she wasn't sure she'd fit in since she was diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago and has been doing well. To make a long sotry short, sort of, things have changed. She had a lumpectomy and rads when originally diagnosed. She has now been told that she is one of the "rare birds" whose rads caused…

Port films
I would be interested in hearing breast cancer radiation experiences with port films, the extra weekly xrays taken during radiation to check the machine alignment with the tumor area. Were you told ahead about these port films, or was this information withheld from you?

Has anyone had the campto/5FU regimine?
Supposed to start treatment on Wednesday but haven't gotten call to have port placed yet. I had oxaliplatin/capecitbine in 2021 and had major nerve damage along with a lot of bad g/i issues. I'm pretty worried about starting this new protocal and was wondering who else has had this and how did it go for you?

Wake Forest or Atrium Health Levine in Charlotte
I am exploring my options for a 2nd opinion or treatment outside of my hometown. I know Duke is probably the most well regarded cancer center in NC, but Wake Forest (NCI) and Atrium Health Levine Cancer Center in Charlotte are closer to me. Does anyone know anything about these 2 places in regards to Anal Cancer? Thank you!
