Interesting Article posted on Caring4Cancer site
I think I was a regular exerciser with working 12 hour shifts as a nurse on a med-surg floor. Not much sitting with that job. And gardening for many hours on my days off, plus walking about 40-60 minutes everyday. I do use talcum powder in my perineal area. I will think twice about using it anymore. I had no symptoms when…

She was to have a total of 6 rounds orig. of taxol/carboplatin. She was starting her 5th and what they said might be her final round the week she died. She had a…

New to boards
I am new to the boards. I look forward to communicating with everyone. I am 46. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer stage 3 in Feb 2010, and had surgery end of Mar 2010. Recovery was long as I experienced a few complications including fluid retention of about 25 pounds in legs and feet which took several weeks to flush…

Unofficial CT/PET scan results and official CA125
Well, not the news I wanted but it could have been much worse. My CA125 went up from 24.6 to 53.9, and 2 of the 3 lymph nodes that had disappeared on my last CT/PET lit up again. (sigh) The news on my scan is unofficial, but here's what I learned: The para-aortic lymph node that lit up is really tiny and wasn't even…

Taxol/Carboplatin every three weeks vs Taxol every week and Carboplatin third week
Hi everyone. I have seen some postings here that some have Taxol every week and some have the combo of Taxol and Carboplatin every three weeks like myself. My surgeon/oncologist states they have seen very good results with the sandwiched therapy I am receiving. I was one post that another's doctor stated they have seen the…

How much fluid to drink and protein to consume during taxol/carboplatin treatments
Everyone, Is it correct to drink 64 ounces (8 cups a day) of fluids while on taxol/carboplatin? I think I do find that this amount helps me feel better, unless it is just coincidence so far in the timing that I began to try more fluids. Also, is there a certain amount of protein that is good? One of our group recommended…

Oops - CT Scan
Well, the wonderful and miraculous news we got on my mom's CT scan was incorrect. They were comparing the most recent scan to the pre-surgery scan. No wonder the mass appeared to have shrunk significantly. Instead, it is simply "stable". This is good - it was growing rapidly before she started chemo again - we know at…

Bleeding as a symptom of a recurrence
I started this thread, not because I have a real opinion yet, but because I will soon, and want to get the discussion going. As many of you know, I am currently on a tenuous break from chemo, following a SURPRISE clear CT/PET I had in mid-February that was supposed to let us know what was going on mid-way through what was…

Hormone Therapy good idea?
Hello everyone! Seems like almost everyone has to go follow-up with the doctor every 3 months. Last January, my CA-125 shows 15 which is a good news but I'm not going to jump up and down that I'm in NED cuz it hasn't been one year since my surgery. I rather wait for 5 years then I'll know that I'm in NED. Guess what...two…

Galactorrhea
Hey ladies! Just curious if any of you experienced something called galactorrhea. It's when the breasts release fluid from both breasts. I'm still going through the testing phases to figure out what is going on inside. I had an MRI in December because I was having frequent headaches in addition to the fluid. Mammogram…

Shopper's Guide to Pesticides~
Knowing we're all gaining insight on the best ways to keep our cancer at bay. One of the best options for our being in control, is what we place in our mouths and how often we get our feet moving thru exercise. I've been reading and hearing more and more on pesticides in our foods. If I had all the money in the world I'd…

to Jazzy1: my CA125 history
(I thought it would be easier to answer you in a new post rather than make you look for the answer to your question within that thread.) Prior to my big de-bulking surgery/hysterectomy they took my CA125 and it was 50, which they determined was 'non-diagnostic'. 3 weeks later they took my CA125 at my post-op and it was…
