Constipation from chemo
I am 7 days passed my 1st chemo and am having a good case of constipation. I am eating lots of fruits and veggies and fiber plus taking stool softeners and nothing seems to work. Is there anything else I can try that works really good? And how long does this chemo induced constipation usually last?

newbornbunny's post: scar tissue "growth"
(I took the liberty of moving this forward - I hope you don't mind. It was buried in the middle of a huge thread. Just a reminder to all - I think it's best to post at the end of the thread otherwise your message can be easily missed.) newbornbunny January 2, 2010 - 1:19pm scar tissue "growth" It's been six weeks since I…

women in excellent health prior to diagnosis??
sisters, i've been struck by how many women here have said what excellent health they were in before they were diagnosed with cancer--i count myself among them. in over 30 years of practice (psychotherapy), i never missed a day of work because of illness. hardly ever got sick, and the health issues i did have were all…

hope this question is ok to ask
Has anyone tried/used ky liquid beads? They say they are hormone free and can work for up to 4 days to help with dryness. I bought them but have been afraid to try. I have one of my 3 month follow ups tomorrow so will ask if they are safe as far as hormones. Thanks for any responses as I know this is a very small question…

Confused re: staging...Any insight?
My mother had a full hysterectomy due to uterine cancer (stage 1) and they found additional cancer in the fallopian tubes, which were also removed. The fallopian tube cancer was stage IIc. I am confused because it was removed, but when I research what level IIc means, it shows that the pelvic fluid also shows signs of…

Help/advice for level IIc following complete hysterectomy?
This seems like a wonderful resource, and thank you all for sharing your stories. My mother had a complete hysterectomy (including tubes, etc.) following a D&C that showed uterine cancer. Results came back showing an unrelated cancer in the fallopian tubes, level IIc. Though the tubes were removed, the doctor is starting a…

Radiation or not after adenocarcinoma?
Hi! I am 63 years old. I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in April 2010, and had a complete hysterectomy on April 27th. I was told that it would be done labroscopically if the cancer had not gone more than 50% into the uterine muscle, which would be determined by pathology during surgery, and that if it was more than…

EATING CANCER FIGHTING FOODS THAT BEAT CANCER AT ITS OWN GAME~
Very interesting article and if not mistaken have seen others (Claudia?) speaking about anti-angiogenesis, which means preventing the growth of blood vessles that feed a tumor. Any thoughts? checkout the list of some great foods with anti-angiogentic. Jan…

Radiation questions
Hi everyone. I have had two chemos, have my third in two weeks and then have 25 radiations ahead, and then 3 more chemos. I have mixed concerns on radiation now after reading different postings. It seems that most here have tolerated the chemo and the radiation ok-some bowel issues controlled with immodium or different…

Working on Funding for Research for Serous Uterine Cancer (and the other rare uterine cancers)
I wrote my congressmen, senators about funding for our cancer. I also wrote Warren Buffet and then found Bill and Melinda Gates web site; they have funding for rare diseases so I wrote them too. I am going to try Michelle Obama and the NIH too. As I look at the research studies there just are not enough out there for us. I…

Treatment or no?
Hi, everyone, I have been lurking & listening to what you all have been going through. I had my histerectomy on the 11th of May, & am recovering nicely from that. On my release day, my Dr showed up & told me I was 3C-I was shocked & devastated as we were led to believe that the surgery was all I would need. Now I have seen…

Question about nadir
Everyone, I am alittle confused about nadir. I head the materials for taxol and carboplatin and one has nadir 10-14 and the other 15-21. Does that mean that between the two drugs our nadir period (weakened cell counts) are from the 10th day to the day before the next chemo (when chemos are every three weeks?) Is this the…

Mom post total hysterectomy and node dissection/questions
My Mom had her hysterectomy (cesarean type incision) and lymph node dissection last Wednesday. Came home from hospital Friday. Has had lots of issues since. Seems her sciatica nerve is messed up somehow. She has not been able to sleep in bed since coming home, sleeps in a chair at night sitting up and with one of us on the…

Vision Floaters and/or Flashes??????
Hi all, Has anyone experienced vision floaters and/or flashes while on carbo/taxol? I remember having flashes about 10 years ago. If my memory serves me correctly, my opthamologist explained that they were the result of the vitreous gel-like substance in the eye breaking away, something that happens as we age OR a symptom…

second post treatment Dr. Visit Confused???
Had my 2nd post treatment Dr. Visit. After reading on this forum about Dr. doing scans at 6 mos etc. I am wondering if that is the norm or not. He does a pap and goes by the C-125. I asked him if the C-125 was a good marker for me since it was never taken before surgery. The first I ever had was after the first Chemo and…

Nempark
Hi. Can you tell me what kind of juicing you did with what fruits and veggies? How many a day? What else did you do to help? Do you use the Jack LaLane juicer-I do have one of those but haven't used since surgery-was afraid sugars in juice would be too condensed.

my visit with my gny-onc this morning after first post treatment ct scan
sisters, my doctor checked out my scan and seemed quite unconcerned about my one slightly enlarged periaortic node, and said there were definitely a number of benign reasons why a node might become enlarged. (of course, i didn't think to ask, like what? at the time.) he also noted that several other nodes had decreased in…

Day after chemo shot
I got my first shot to build bone marrow yesterday and today my bones ache really bad. They told me to take alleve but it isn't helping me much. How long does this aching last after the shot? I was feeling pretty good until I got that shot. Mind you I am fatigued today so maybe its a combination of both things getting me…

Radiation diet
I had my radiation "dress rehearsal" today & start the real deal tomorrow. I know that a low-fat, low-residue diet is recommended if diarrhea is a problem. Has anyone started the diet before the diarrhea starts? Do I eat this diet to prevent diarrhea or just to treat it? I asked my rad/onc RN today and she was a little…

First chemo today went well
Over all it was not a bad experience. The nurse did have some trouble putting the IV in and had to change arms that hurt quite a bit. Then the benadryl made me free anxious and a little high even 2 hours after she gave me it. They might lower the dosage next time I go at the end of June. Was a very long day from 9:00 a.m.…

Second chemo was Friday
Too all my friends, Had my second chemo on Friday-my doc tells me the 2nd and 3rd should be easier than the first. (First I had bad joint pains). So far I feel ok, tired. Hair re-growth after Taxol/Carboplatin
I just finished 3 rounds of Taxol/Carboplatin, then have 6 weeks of radiation and then another 3 rounds of chemo. My question is, should I expect some hair re-growth during the next 6 weeks? I know it will all fall out again with the upcoming chemo, but was kind of hoping to have some peach fuzz soon.

Question about first chemo treatment
I am having my first chemo treatment tomorrow morning. Carbo/Taxol (sp) I am wondering if this will be like a normal IV treatment in that you won't feel anything while its going in? I know some people have side effects right when the treatment begins and of course the side effects after the treatment. But is there anything…
