Hi, new to this board.
I am not sure yet if I have Ovarian cancer. I had oral cancer and just recently got my 2nd pet scan to make sure it was all clear. The results came back great for my head and neck, but not so great for my ovary. I just saw my pcp yesterday about all the pain I've been in, my lower back, hips legs, etc. She suggested I talk…

CT scan results as a measure of response to treatment
I have had 3 rounds of Taxotere/Carbo for a recurrence. CA-125 is no longer a good measure for me, so we are using scans. My recurrence is primarily in my lymph nodes (mediastinal, supraclavicle, & axillary) and after 3 treaments the CT results show improved and decreased size of nodes. I also have 2 small soft tissue…

To Hell And Back - Proved My Doctor Wrong
OK. The thread title is a bit provocative. And, I think my doctor would not agree that he has been proved wrong: it would take a completely clean scan to convince him. But, I think my story may help some people, so I am using an eye catching title. It’s lengthy. Those of you who just want a summary can skip to the last…

surgery but no chemo
Hi Everyone, I just saw this wonderful community and decided I would like to share my story. At 15 I was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer, I had a tumour on my right ovary, and my first surgery was to remove only the tumour because the doctors didn't think it was severe. A month later I found out that some of the…

Scans this week.. Really nervous!
I finished my 6 rounds of carbo/taxol/avaistan in late October. CA-125 was 9 in early November. I have CT's today, petscan on Thursday. See the dr. on Nov. 14. Wish I would learn to relax and stop "borrowing trouble." I began my 2 yr. every 2 weeks avaistan maintenance last Wed. Does dealing with this get any easier? ever?…

This will be my first Christmas since my diagnosis.
I am thinking that I will buy myself a really nice Christmas, wrap it, put it under the tree, and act surprised when I open it. The sad part is that I may really be surprised because by then I may have forgotten what I bought myself! :) I know you ladies can relate to this. Carla

Symptoms, symptoms, symptons...Maybe TMI
I know that once diagnosed, treated, and found NED, it takes the body a long time to heal. Some incidents though just make you want to run for the hills. My big symptom that I ignored was constant contsipation and painful gas. During chemo and right afterward finishing my digestive system was a mess. For the past few…

Ok onto the next
Got the word from Johns Hopkins on Friday my wife is not a candidate for surgery. That just sucks as it means one less weapon in the arsenal. I will be calling there oncology department today so they can review her stuff while its there and give any chemo suggestions or maybe they have a trial or clinical going she could…

Jingle all the way! update
Hi Loves, Many of you might know that I've been chemoing for the last 23 months for a 1st recurrance after being NED for 3 1/2 years (3c). In October my CAs dropped to 48... not in normal range, but I was over the moon. In Nov. they jumped to 150 and I really began to panic. I had a CT scan and saw my ONC this week and my…

Writing a Eulogy for my Sister in Law
I am sitting here trying to write a Eulogy for my Sister in Law that was taken from us with Sarcoma Cancer. It dosen't matter what kind of cancer they are all so bad. She battled her cancer just over 2 years and was there for me for the last year on my cancer journey. I will probably be here for another 2 hours trying to…

I had my first recurrence
.... in January 2011 after a full years remission. I was treated with 6 cycles of carbo/taxol which didn’t work, followed by 4 cycles of doxil which didn’t work either. Now they’re going to change me to topotecan. I hate this, it absolutely stinks. I know others go thru far worse than me but I could really do with a break!…

Is it rare to have normal CA-125 reading , at 17 or so and still have ovarian cancer?
Is it rare to have normal CA-125 reading , at 17 or so and still have ovarian cancer? Reason being, I have had BC and went to have a check up since I hadn't had a pelvic in years ( due to hysterectomy , though I still have one ovary and one fallopian tube)and was having "symptoms" that scared me. Pelvice was normal as was…

Been Away
Sorry to have been off the board for awhile. I was so saddened by Linda's passing that I needed time I guess to get back together. After 6 months of chemo, ct scan on Monday, I received the results on Wed. I am back with NED! ct scan was clear and CA125 was 7. I feel so blessed. Dr. was excited for me; said pack your bags…

2nd recurrence
My cancer returned after 8 months of being cancer free. Just had my follow up appointment with the oncologist after completing 6 sessions of chemo. The CT125 is 8 and the CT scan is clear. The oncologist said that when, not "if" but "when" the cancer returns again, that it will be in a shorter period of time. Has anyone…

Does everyone have extremely lenghthy waits at their doctor's office?
The first time I saw my oncologist in June my appt. was at 9:30. I did not get out of there until almost 2:00. I have had to wait as long as 2 hrs. just for lab work. Once I had to wait 1 1/2 hrs. just for my dr. to determine whether or not i would take a treatment because of low platelets. (he's only in this clinic one…

Metastasis
My sister had a biopsy done on her left breast following an abnormal mammogram. The biopsy confirmed that her ovarian ca has spread. Her Gyn/Onc says that for now she will continue with her 5th cycle of Taxol/Avastin and Cisplatin. If her CA 125 continues to drop before the next cycle they will finish the 6th cycle. If…

Topotecan
I've been having bloating recently so I had my CA125 taken and went to see my oncologist. My numbers are up from 122 to 1,467. It is so strange because I don't actually feel unwell and where I usually get fluid around my lungs they are currently clear. Anyway I will be having Topotecan. It is a weekly cycle where you have…
