what's been happening with me
Hi haven't been on in a while. Had some problems and have been on Alimta now going into my 3rd cycle. Been really hard on my blood counts and had to get a blood transfusion recently so my 3rd chemo was put on hold. Hopefully, my counts will have gone back up. I had a partial bowel obstruction a few months ago because I…

ovarian cysts ---already a breast cancer patient
I am a breast cancer patient on CSN, but wonder if anyone had ovarian cysts that led to a dx of cancer? They are "watching them" for 8 weeks, and I do not wait well. :( Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Carol

Hernia
I had my surgery dec5th. I have noticed over the weekend an egg-sized palpable hard area in the middle of my incision. It is just slightly painful when I stand up. Could this be a hernia? Does anyone have hernia experience?

White blood cells count
my sister has clear cell carcinoma stage 3c She started her Chemo therapy in Nov 2011 She took three doses till date before the third dose she did blood test and the count of the white blood cells was 10.6 which is within the normal range (4.8 to 10.8), but this raised a question why the count of the white blood cells did…

A little new year's humor.....
As we progress into the year 2012, I want to thank all of you for your educational e-mails over the past year 2011. I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery. I no longer open a bathroom door without using a paper towel, or have the waitress put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the…

New here
Hi my name is Kim and I'm looking to connect with other ovarian cancer folks. I'm 33 and was diagnosed Nov 20. My whole story, it is rather long: I moved to thailand in Jan of 2009. I started having dizziness and lightheadedness. Sudden constipation followed by chronic diarrhea. Very fatigued. I came home in summer of 2009…

Fork in the road
My sister had debulking ( stage 3c) 6 rounds of Taxol/Cisplatin/avastin IP and IV. Her OVCA was still there. CA 125 was down to 90's at the end of that. She then had IP port removed. IV taxol now for about 4 rounds along with Avastin. CT scan last week I guess shows some Nodules on the lung. A breast biopsy tested positive…

Surgery scheduled
As many of you know I was diagnosed in Aug. 2011 with PPC stage 3C. I have been in remission for several months. I am taking part in a pharmaceutical vaccine trial (CVAC). I have recently found out that I am BRCA 2 positive and the Dr has suggested that I have a double mastectomy. After weighing the pros and cons and…

Sometimes family does not really understand
When my son and I were talking the other day he informed me that he doesn't think it is a good idea for me to continue coming to this board. He says now that I am "good" it can only bring me down to read about others who are still in the battle or lose the fight. I tried to explain that we share everything on this board;…

Halfway thru vaccine trial
I get my 5th out of 10 vaccine doses today. I am getting the vaccine trial CAN-003. (CVAC) So far I have had no problems with it. They tell me they are pleased with what they have seen so far and are opening a new phase soon. It is given different places around the US and Austrailia. Just thought some of you might be…

Back to chemo next week
after my wonderful and rejuvenating holiday break. It's 2 years this month since I went back on chemo (3C/May 2006 with 3 years remission). My feeling strong time was spent making cookies and candy, sewing up doll clothes, and spending lots of silly time with my granddaughters, kids, husband and friends. I drank lots of…

Wandering mind!!
Hi everyone, It has been a while since I have posted on this board. It will be 4 years since my stage 3B diagnosis on January 7th, 2012. I just had a stay in the hospital with some abdominal pain and of course they did a CT. I ended up with pancreatitis. My Ca-125 was 11, but the CT showed two soft tissue "nodules" in my…

Upset over what someone said
What do you think about this? My friend who takes me to all of my chemo treatments was talking about what her sister said to her. She told her she doesn't know why I continue going through with what I do. She doesn't know how I can continue. (I have been on chemo for 2 years with no break). I told my friend that I do it…

Itching related to carbo/taxol?
I'm on dense dose carbo/taxol. After my second dose of taxol only, I developed severe itching. No rash though. It feels like it is coming from inside my skin. Nothing relieves it. It is getting worse. I can hardly stand it as I am typing. My hands and arms are itching like crazy. If I scratch, it itches even worse. I…

Just for your information
I am in remission for Lymphoma but a friend in my Hope support group in Largo Florida went to Utopia in Oldsmar Florida with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer and was cured in 6 weeks. It is expensive 1,200 a week. All natural... They use the book Outsmarting your Cancer. The PET is paid by insurance and read by your own Onc. I…

Freeing experience
I asked for help from you ladies about taking off my "cancer sucks" wristband and your responses helped me decide it was time. I told my cousin I wanted to do it on Christmas day when most of the people who were wearing their bands would be at my house. I told my cousin I didn't want to just throw them away because I am…

Just a question
I hope you ladies won't think I am too silly but I wanted to ask for your thoughts about something. Who better to ask? I have been wearing my teal "cancer sucks" bracelet as well as a yellow Livestrong bracelet (a friend gave me) since shortly after I was diagnosed in March of 2010. I have been NED since fall of 2010 and I…

Am I becoming Rip Van Winkle?
Ladies, I can not believe how much I am sleeping! I finished my first line chemo in late Oct. I am now on Avaistan for maintenance. I am sleeping several hours at night, plus often times a two hour nap during the day. Dr. says I am in complete remission at this time. I lost my husband last April (2010). I"m wondering if my…

CA125 nadir after successful recurrence treatment compared with that at the conclusion of the succes
Those of you who have recurred and then went into remission, was your CA125 at the end of the successful recurrence treatment lower, higher, or about the same as it was when you first went into remission? More broadly, if you had multiple remissions, do the CA125 nadir value after each successful treatment vary?

My mom can't eat or drink anything
My mom's doctor told us that there are no more options for her. Basically he has given her the talk and offered hospice as an option. She did a test and found that the tumor appears to be blocking her intestine......as a result, anything she eats (which is nothing) or drinks comes out after 15 mins. She lost about 10…

CERVICAL CANCER?
I was going to post on 'gynecological' cancer forum, but wanted to consult you ladies first. My daugther, 25 years old, had an 'abnormal' pap smear. She will go for a colposcopy this Tuesday to biopsy the cervical tissue. This was discovered during her routine yearly check-up on December 1. Anyone out there have a similar…
