New to this board
Hello. I normally post on the caregiver (to my late husband) or the thyroid (I have this type of cancer) board. I had a PET scan this week (to try and find why my blood levels for the thyroid were elevated, but nothing showed on the ultrasound or body scan) and it showed uptake to my left ovary. I am worried. Can anyone…

I'm Baa-aa-ck...with good news!
AS many of you know, I was diagnosed with OVCA mets to the brain. Directly to the brain, with no stops in between (my oncologist and my gyn/onc were both stunned by this because even my CA125 went up, unusual for brain mets apparently). At any rate, after brain surgery, whole brain radiation and gamma knife....it's…

Since your diagnosis, what are some things you thought you would never hear? Let's have some humor
I NEVER thought I would have a dr. tell me to not lose any more weight. I never thought I would have a doctor describe me as thin. And finally, one day at chemo I couldn't get the recliner the rest of the way back up. The chemo nurse said " you don't weigh enough to push it down." I know it was just because I was so tired…

It's been exactly 5 months since my mother died of this disease. I lurk on the board. I come and see new names and want to offer hope and support....and realize I haven't any to provide. then I see Linda P's post and am sickened. Then I see old names who were my life for so long, LeesaG, Carlene Hissy Fitz, Kayandok, and…

What should I expect from the platelet transfusion? Any side effects? The NP said other than sleepiness from the Benadryl there are no side effects generally. I like to hear from those who have experienced these things :) Thanks ladies! Carla

Naturapathic Doctor
I had my 6th dose of carbo/taxol Aug 3 and I spent a rough 8 days in the hospital. Chemo did a number on my blood count BUT the end of Aug my ct scan showed "No efidence of disease" My marker never got below 35. At the end of Sep my marker went up again and is now at 350 even tho the Pet and CT scans still show nothing. I…

Now that chemo is over, what can I expect?
I took my last treatment Tuesday. I'm achy and fatigued today. I will remain on Avaistan for two years. What can I expect now? How long will it take for my body to recover from the chemo? While my last CA-125 was down to 14, I am still scared. I suppose that's normal. I have noticed that when I don't feel as well…

good news re: Nov. 10th surgery - prayers DO work!!!!!
Just to let you sweet sisters know that my surgeon Dr. Barakat called today to say that he feels the surgery scheduled for Nov. 10th does not need to be major open up serious as he had originally thought but can be done laproscopically (!) because the nasty tumor is so tiny and isolated with no spread - this would mean…

My dear wife, Cindy, was in remission for 11 month and the monster came back while on Taxol maintenance. need for chemo
I had stage 3 ovarian so had 6 chemos and surgery. At my 6 month checkup, my markers were 182. One doctor said chemo fairly soon but cat scan first (results soon). He's no longer doing chemo and gave me a new doctor who said we'll proably let it ride. Oh yes, regular dr. found tumor during exam. Should I be concerned? Is…
