Sad News: Hissy Fitz
To my sister warriors, I learned today that our dearest friend and supporter, Carlene Mullins (aka, Hissy Fitz), passed into the arms of Christ on Friday. My heart is breaking as I write this, because for so long I have put off contacting her. I do not know the cause of her death, whether or not it was related to cancer is…

Told Not Cancer, but still have questions
I posted this on the uterine cancer board and someone suggested I post it here. I hope that is OK. I am 60 years old and have been in menopause since I had chemo for breast cancer over 11 years ago. I recently had spotting and pelvic pressure. I saw my gynecologist and she did a very painful uterine biopsy in her office…

On Topotecan - what's next?
So i started topotecan a few weeks ago. Leading up to it have gone through a pretty typical protocol of drugs: Carbo/taxol twice. Then doxil, gemzar and now topotecan. This seems to be where the road map sort of ends. There a couple of other drugs - avastan (sp?) for example my doc doesn't really want to use because my…

Waiting for results...
Hi everyone. My dad is dying of prostate cancer right now. He was "fine" (no noticable symptoms) in February of this year. But week by week after that, he got worse and worse. He visited the Emergency Room no less than 8-10 times and they kept sending him home, saying it was nothing. One urology resident actually said…

Did this procedure cause my cancer?
Apparently the warnings have been around for some time, but this is the first I've heard of them. When I had a hysterectomy 6 yrs ago, the procedure was laparoscopic & robotic. If this particular technique--power morcellation--was used, I didn't know it. But it sounds like it was possble. And now I learn it can cause…

I never wear foundation over my freckles but I gotta admit it looked nice...got some samples too...will I ever use it?...doubt it, but it was a good spirit lifter. That and the therapy dogs that came by. Chemo…

What to do when the doctors don't agree?
So we are not sure who to trust with these doctors. When my mother got her last CT scan it showed decreased overall mass in all of her tumors except one and what the radiologist described as a ‘significant reduction in plural nodularity and decrease in now small plural effusions’ this sounded promising even if her ca 125…

A good friend
I don't usually post and if I do it's on the colon board, as I lost my husband to this insidious disease, but today I learned that a good friend and colleague lost her battle with OC. She was the most positive, loving and caring person I'd ever met. Not to mention how hard she fought, right up until the end. I will never…
