I have no idea if what I posted before even made sense lol. (thanks to all the meds). I just got home and will try this again... The tumor had grown since being found in August. According to the CT scan images they should have been able to cut out a certain-sized wedge and see clean kidney. However, everytime they cut it…

Surgery Scheduled
We met with the MD Anderson team yesterday and have been scheduled for surgery next Wednesday (11/1/17). The plan is to have a partial nephrectomy but I have also consented for a radical if it is determined to be the best route once he is in there. The wording 'inseparable from diaphragm' that had us so worried didn't seem…

Ready to Rock and Roll - operation over
Well, I don't even expect anyone to comment on this, feel I should post so that there is a record of how crazy good this has been. Certainly feel that there must be something in all the kind wishes and moral support I have been lent and sent this past week from the people here and family and friends. I had much trepidation…

I go back in 3 months for my Scan. I asked the Dr if I needed to see an oncologist and he said he was going to wait until the scan in February.

Wondering how you did with sugars while on the IV and not really eating much for the first few days. Also wondering how healing went. Fast? Slower than normal? Worried about infection? TIA.

New here too
I had relatively minor muscle pains in my bladder area for a few months so my doctor ordered an ultrasound for the bladder and kidneys. which discovered "Renal sonography demonstrates a 4.1 x 3.7 x 3.4 cm in diameter solid-appearing slightly hypoechoic mass at the medial aspect of the upper pole of the left kidney. This…

More cancer in the world
I got a bit behind on this forum and decided to just take a few weeks off. Now I am a long way behind and slowly catching up. I think the forum is quite busy now. While I am musing about nothing in particular... There seems to be an awful lot of cancer in the world these days. Maybe it is a function of getting older, but…

Cryoablation for kidney cancer
A couple of weeks ago I had a 2cm malignant tumor removed by percutaneous cryoablation. For now, the scans show that the tumor was completely froaen and the outlook is good. My concern is that I have had a consistent swelling (the sizes of an eggplant) starting at my waist and going almost to the navel. I am also…

Stage 1 CCRCC Grade 2 recurrence or treatment questions
I was diagnosed this summer with ccrcc and of course have a harder time dealing with the mental effects of it than the physical ones so far. My urologist gave me the all clear and said he got it all and didn't recommend any follow up treatment or anything other than every 6 month scans. I know this is the normal protocol…

My experience
Hi all. I've been hanging around reading a lot of your stories the past couple weeks and decided to share mine. I had a 5.5cm mass incidentally discovered on my rt kidney in mid August this year. You can imagine my terror when I first read the words renal cell carcinoma in my ultrasound report. I'm a relatively fit 47 yr…

What did you eat to get your energy back?
I'm 2 weeks post-op and feeling pretty good. I've even gone back into my business for a few hours 4 days last week. I know my energy levels and fatique were going to be a problem for awhile, but I was wondering what you ate to give yourself a boost. I'm sure we all had little to no appetite following surgery, but the only…

Problem with Dissolvable Stitches
My husband had a full nephrectromy on August 21st, so, in addition to the laparoscopic incisions, he has a 3 inch incision below his belly button where the kidney was removed. They used the dissolvable stitches and they also used glue. Well, the dissolvable stitches still haven't completely dissolved, and a couple of them…

I had a 4cm cancerous mass removed. All of my scans have been clear up to now. This would have been 5 years. I was not expecting the news that I have…

Where is everyone?
I've had several messages from friends I've made on this site. They notice I've been quiet. Neuropathies make typing difficult for me and it can take 30 minutes or so to post a message. I no longer can play guitar or ride motorcycles, or use many tools. Including eating utensils. I have my ups and downs but manage to be…

Complication
Just a random question (something I was wondering about). Did anyone have a laparascopic partial nephrectomy scheduled, but due to complications, etc. end up having a radical or open surgery? Just curious. I also wonder if anyone's tumor grew between finding out and surgery time. Thanks!!!
