Looking for guidance
In May 2017, I had a 1.2 cm right kidney tumor removed. The docs had been watching it for 1.5 years with no change. Finally, the anxiety was too much and I had it removed. The path report showed it as a 1.2 cm clear cell Furhman grade 1, stage 1 pt1a. It was cut out using hand sssisted laposcopic procedure. my urologist…

Hi
Just checking back in. It's been a while since I've been here. Just had my yearly scans and everything looks great. 3 years now. So, yay me. I still have a larger, funkyish cyst that we are watching in my remaining kidney, but that has not changed, so yay again. Only new development is some funky labs. Not awful, but…

***Update*** New here.
Waiting impatiently. Went to Doctor May 11th with UTI. Dr found blood in urine culture. Not uncommon. Antibiotics for 2 weeks. Went back for 2 week check. Still blood. Scheduled ultrasound 6/1. Found some unremarkable issues, but Doctor wanted me to see a Urologist. He thought it was just a bad infection. Put me on…

PTH labs and blood pressure
Hi Everyone, I have an appointment with my nephrologist Thursday. Blood pressure has been rising in the past few months – she had been watching it since surgery 08/27/2016 (open partial nephrectomy on my solitary kidney) and it was doing all right but now is hitting 150s and 160s over 90s and 100s at times– yet other days…

First scan

open partial nephrectomy bloat?
I have read quite a few posts and some horor stories and all that but to be honest I am tired, and finally decided to just post my issue and see what help I can get. I had open partial nephrectomy removed part on the right side. after reading I feel lucky to only have a 9 inch incision site. This was done back on Jan 8th…

Presentation, my dad cancer is back... again
Hi, Let this message serve as a presentation and to apologize if my english is not so good. My father was diagnosed with a RCC back in 2012. It seemed to be confined to one kidney and so it was removed. There was one still functioning well. This year, almost 5 later, two new small spots were detected on the other kidney.…

The good and the bad of CT's
Well....if there is anything good that comes out of Ct scans, I guess I have to say they do find interesting diagnoses. After the first biggie surgery in 2006, they did find recurrences in nodes in both 2007 and 2008, and both were positive for mets of RCC. They caught the enlarging thyroid in about 2013 and the biopsy was…

Freaking out
Ok. So I had my surgery was Monday to remove my right kidney. Pretty much back to normal with just a bit of pain. Off the meds. Now my anxiety is kicking in since I only have my left kidney now. The original ct Scan said I had a 2cm cyst which I didn’t see as a problem and it also noted a 4-5mm lesion. It mentioned it was…

Appetite Changes
Hi all! Did anyone have a change in appetite since having a full nephrectomy? I am 2.5 wks out and still have nausea at times. I also cannot eat as much as I used to and can only seem to handle light foods most of the time (soup etc.). I know things take time and I am no longer in a hurry lol. I see now why my dr signed me…

Another cancer. Just like that. 4 years later, revving up another battle.
I've been MIA. Sorry for that. But we've been thrown a massive curve ball. My husband's most recent scans for stage 3 kidney cancer follow up found a new and different cancer in his small bowel. We are awaiting a surgery date for him to have a resection of the small bowel. There was not a biopsy due to location and because…

New Caregiver and I'm Scared
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer on November 15th. The good news is it is small and they caught it very early. However, I am 54 years old and I have lost numerous friends and family over the years to cancer and this is scaring me badly! The other thing is I recently went back to school to get my Music degree…

Surgery date for husband’s new cancer
Dec 18 will be the big day. Small bowel resection for a 3.5 x 3 stromal tumor. The surgeon wants to also remove his appendix for a related reason but only as a precaution. Using this site on an iPhone is enough to drive me insane, so I’ll update more as we move forward. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating

Please Wish me Luck!
Well, I'm off to Moffitt Cancer Center for a CT of my lungs thanks to the "vague nodular" whatever the x-ray picked up on my last follow up in October. I'm really nervous because until now everything was always clear and I was doing yearly follow ups. I'm just so afraid it's mets. I don't know when I'll get my results but…

Living to old age after a Neph
I recently had to choose a new doctor, and after several visits and exhaustive lab tests, she said I was doing "fairly well" for my age. Hmmm. Being a little concerned over that turn of phrase, I asked, "Do you think I'll live to be 82?" "Do you smoke, or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?" she asked. "Oh, no," I replied,…

Diet
As many of you know, there really isn't a lot out there on prefered diets for Kidney Cancer. I was wondering what do some of you long term survivors recommend? I'm planning on going on more of a plant based diet with little to no animal products. Any other suggestions?

Bilateral RCC...updates - first surgery complete
Had been having abdominal pain for some time. PCP sent me for an abdominal ultrasound. Nothing of concern discovered in abdomen but a lesion on each kidney was incidentally discovered. PCP sent me to urologist who sent me for a CT scan and chest x-ray. I learned yesterday that the CT scans confirmed a “solid mass arising…
