Another cancer. Just like that. 4 years later, revving up another battle.
I've been MIA. Sorry for that. But we've been thrown a massive curve ball. My husband's most recent scans for stage 3 kidney cancer follow up found a new and different cancer in his small bowel. We are awaiting a surgery date for him to have a resection of the small bowel. There was not a biopsy due to location and because…

New Caregiver and I'm Scared
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer on November 15th. The good news is it is small and they caught it very early. However, I am 54 years old and I have lost numerous friends and family over the years to cancer and this is scaring me badly! The other thing is I recently went back to school to get my Music degree…

Surgery date for husband’s new cancer
Dec 18 will be the big day. Small bowel resection for a 3.5 x 3 stromal tumor. The surgeon wants to also remove his appendix for a related reason but only as a precaution. Using this site on an iPhone is enough to drive me insane, so I’ll update more as we move forward. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating

Please Wish me Luck!
Well, I'm off to Moffitt Cancer Center for a CT of my lungs thanks to the "vague nodular" whatever the x-ray picked up on my last follow up in October. I'm really nervous because until now everything was always clear and I was doing yearly follow ups. I'm just so afraid it's mets. I don't know when I'll get my results but…

Living to old age after a Neph
I recently had to choose a new doctor, and after several visits and exhaustive lab tests, she said I was doing "fairly well" for my age. Hmmm. Being a little concerned over that turn of phrase, I asked, "Do you think I'll live to be 82?" "Do you smoke, or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?" she asked. "Oh, no," I replied,…

Right after my surgery, my wbc was 12.6 day after surgery, then fell to 9.1 then to 9.4 by 4 days post op. Last week my new test results…

Diet
As many of you know, there really isn't a lot out there on prefered diets for Kidney Cancer. I was wondering what do some of you long term survivors recommend? I'm planning on going on more of a plant based diet with little to no animal products. Any other suggestions?

Bilateral RCC...updates - first surgery complete
Had been having abdominal pain for some time. PCP sent me for an abdominal ultrasound. Nothing of concern discovered in abdomen but a lesion on each kidney was incidentally discovered. I have no idea if what I posted before even made sense lol. (thanks to all the meds). I just got home and will try this again... The tumor had grown since being found in August. According to the CT scan images they should have been able to cut out a certain-sized wedge and see clean kidney. However, everytime they cut it…

Surgery Scheduled
We met with the MD Anderson team yesterday and have been scheduled for surgery next Wednesday (11/1/17). The plan is to have a partial nephrectomy but I have also consented for a radical if it is determined to be the best route once he is in there. The wording 'inseparable from diaphragm' that had us so worried didn't seem…

Ready to Rock and Roll - operation over
Well, I don't even expect anyone to comment on this, feel I should post so that there is a record of how crazy good this has been. Certainly feel that there must be something in all the kind wishes and moral support I have been lent and sent this past week from the people here and family and friends. I had much trepidation…

I had relatively minor muscle pains in my bladder area for a few months so my doctor ordered an ultrasound for the bladder and kidneys. which discovered "Renal sonography demonstrates a 4.1 x 3.7 x 3.4 cm in diameter solid-appearing slightly hypoechoic mass at the medial aspect of the upper pole of the left kidney.
