Hi all - more news about Skylar
Skylar is still in the hospital. He is 2 weeks old today. Time sure flies. Found out 2 days ago that he has a heart defect called Bicusid Aortic Valve. Doc says it's nothing to worry about now, he could start having problems more as an adult. They can't say if it is due to the chemo or possible my Tegretal I take for…

Hi! I am sorry I didn't see your message to me on my letter about Herceptin a few pages back. I have to have a heart scan every 3 months while I have been on the Herceptin. That is the downside of Herceptin - in some people it can do heart damage. I have been lucky so far that no damage has occurred. I know the feeling…

It's been almost a year and I'm finally going to have surgery tomorrow to have the port for my Becker expander/implant removed. Also having a nipple put on. I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, have had chemo and radiation. I am currently on Tamoxifen and have lymphdema in my right arm and hand. Like so many of you, I have had good days and bad days but God has been good. For such a long time, I was living my life like I had been given a death wish (scared to take…

Respite from Herceptin
Hi to all of you! As some of you know that have been on this site as long as I have, that I have taken weekly infusions of Herceptin for the past two years. I do believe it has saved my life, but I was getting really weary going to the doctor's every week for all this time. Boy, did I get a great surprize Tuesday when I…

Taxol and Taxitiere side effects
If any of you have had Taxol or Taxitiere, perhaps you could help me with a question. I just finished 4 treatments of Eperubicin and Cytoxin. On the 26th I will start 13 weekly alternating treatments of Taxitiere and Taxol. I've noticed that most people who post about these drugs take them every 3 weeks but my doctor…

Just finished last chemo treatment...kind of sad????
On thursday, I finished my last chemo treatment. It was one of the hardest. I vomited for 3 days straight until only blood came out, and pulled my ribs out. I guess why I am writing is to wonder if anyone else felt kind of sad when it was over. I am happy I don't have to have chemo anymore, but now I feel scared, and sad.…

lymphadema
My treatments and surgery were complete last summer. I find that I have to be extremely careful about lifting heavy things with my left arm (where lymph nodes were removed). I recently baby sat and lifted a 18-20 pound baby repeatedly during the day -- now am experiencing some general puffiness and swelling of the axilla…

expander fashion
For any of you who have had expanders, did you wear anything but baggy tops while they were in? My are full, but are wide, rather than, shall we say - protruding. I look pretty flat-chested in anything. Any tricks or tips for wearing something else; I have so many summer tops and dresses that just don't look right and…

Question about radiation effects
I just started radiation this past week, on Wednesday. After just two days, my bra was far too tight to wear. I had to get bra extenders and it is over a 3+ inch increase. Did this happen to anyone else? I asked at my appointment on Friday; the nurse said it always happens, but "not usually this soon." She also said…

Catheterization question...
Has anyone had any probs after being catheterized? After the lump removal I've had problems with infections, pain here and there... it's not fun... and I am worried about getting "cathed" on Monday... Can there be scarring? I am going to ask if they will use a smaller tube this time! Thank you all so much! Marty

I am now getting…

Sun+Sunscreen+Sand=Allergy?
Has anyone ever had\heard of this happening? My oncono pronounced this was the problem with one of my ankles while beachside this summer. I used a hat, 30 sunscreen, umbrella, did everything I had read or heard, to prevent melanoma or sunburn. This nasty patch of rash appeared on my affected-side ankle. I was stumped.…

I've been reading everyone's posts for weeks as I was dx with invasive breast cancer with extensive lymph node involvement in late Feb. I've since received 4 treatments of AC and have had 2 taxol and the third in Tues. Then radiation. I receive Taxol every 3 weeks, not daily. I'm probably being silly but I 'm concerned…

Just a note
Hello ladies, I don't spend much time on the details of my cancer, enough to know that it was grade three with positive nodes and negative to hormone. I think we sometimes waste valuable energy on things that we can't control like the details of our disease. I am still having a rocky existance with nausea and no hunger…
