Hormone Replacement Therapy
Dear Friends: It has been announced that doctors will no longer prescribe HRT as a treatment for menopausal symptoms with the claim that it strengthens bones and helps prevent heart disease. Data has proven that it can be a cause of breast cancer. That was the story my primary care doctor and my GYN doctor used to convince…

HRT responses
Dear Friends: Thank you all so very much for your responses. At least I know now that I am not the only one who had this suspicion about HRT. Does anyone remember the old margerine commercial where this actress dressed up says - It's not nice to fool Mother Nature! I feel that is what HRT does, and sometimes it backfires,…

Depression--Is it just me?
Is it just me or do others have this same problem? It's been two years ago this month that I had a bi-lateral mastectomy followed by immediate reconstruction for DCIS. Because it was found so early and because I opted for the mastectomies as the form of treatment, I avoided having to go through chemo and/or radiation. I…

Wanting info re recovery from mastectomy after radiation
I was diagnosed with a breast cancer over a year ago and went through lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. Now, 7 months after radiation, I've been diagnosed with a very rare and apparently radiation-induced skin cancer of the nipple of the radiated breast. Everyone agrees, including me, to go ahead and have a "simple…
