Ovary problems after breast cancer?

Thanks for replying to my question.georgeann said:Mary,
Are you taking tomexifin?
No, I am not taking anything. I guess I am considered one of the lucky ones. My cancer was DCIS, Stage 0, but fast growing. I had both breast removed. The lymph nodes were clear. I needed no radiation, chemo nor drugs. But I just have this feeling about something being wrong with my ovaries. Check-ups are "okay" and the ultra-sound showed just two tiny cysts on one ovary. Real or imagined, the fear is there!
I was wanting to know if others felt this way and how they are dealing with it.
THanks, Mary0 -
That's what I am planning on doing. Some stated that I was over-reacting. My husband and Doctor support me. Guess I am "down" because the remark was made by ladies in my support group. I was positive and pro-active about my health. Because of their remarks...from the people whom I thought would most understand...the ones that are constantly preaching how only "You" should make the decisions about your treatments, etc...I am hurt and second-guessing myself. So I have turned to this chat room for y'alls experience and views. Thanks - Maryshirlann said:Hi, dear, I had heard we are 4 times as likely to get ovarian cancer. If it really bugs you and your family is complete, see if your insurance will pay for a hysterectomy. I sure wish I had had one! Hugs, Shirlann

Oh, honey, everyone is so emotional, all of us have been through so much, it is hard to just get through all this. I personally wish to goodness I could think up a reason to get rid of my uterus and ovaries. No more pap smears, no nothing to worry about. If you want to do this, I say hooray! be too concerned with what other people think. They just did a study and if you are "plumbing free" your chances of getting BC are reduced by 70%. How can wanting those statistics be over-reacting? Silly gooses! Oh well, you make up your own mind!

Hi Mary,
I too have been extremely worried about ovarian cancer since my aunt died of ovarian cancer last november. I had the genetic testing done which came back negative. This gave me a little piece of mind. Also, my doctor has agreed to give me the ca125 blood test every year. Not a very reliable test but the best there is for now. I am also weighing my options to have my ovaries removed after menopause. (I am only 38 now)
Hang in there and try not to stress too much.0
