Going out on a limb
I am going to go out on a limb. Claudia extended a hand to Joggergirl. To paraphrase what some of the ladies hear have expressed and I know that I feel this way, I would rather be tricked by someone, hoaxed whatever because I trusted someone who lies than turn my back on someone who might need me because I think they might…

Message for Kourtnee/joggergirl
You said you are sorry ... I'm sorry too ... that this has all turned out the way it has. Margo (and I am going to trust that that IS your name) ... I don't think you realize how many people were totally engrossed in the "Kourtnee posts" the past few days. You have no idea how many people were with "you" every minute ...…

Mild pain and discomfort @ mast. site
I had my mastectomy 5/22/08 and since then the incision and armpit areas have been basically numb. Recently however there is discomfort and some mild pain-both with arm movement and by touching the area. I mentioned this to my onc on Monday- had a CT on Tuesday and yesterday the nurse read the results to me over the phone.…

Trust and My Philosophy...
I used to teach at a local university - mostly freshmen level courses. Some of my students were still in their high school mode, and when assignments were late, they would come up with some far fetched stories as to "why." However, there was one instance in which the "far fetched" story turned out to be true and that…

how can we believe anything
I hope no one is offended by my reaction to the 'Kourtnee' matter, but how can we believe anything this person says? She could be telling the truth, but she could not be. I feel like this whole thing is one giant hoax. The thing that makes me the most angry is that when I heard 'Kourtnee' had died, I immediately started…

Good Thing I didn't take an actual vow of silence!!!!!
Okay everyone~ I said I wasn't going to post, but you all are forcing me into it! As I previously stated, I have been a member of CSN since 2003; a long time to be communing with us cancer-types! LOL A few years ago, I, along with a good dozen others, was duped into believing a circumstance much like the one we are…

Herceptin...
Hello. I spoke to all of you a few months ago when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been a loooooooong road to here since November 07, of 2008. My post was what to say to my mom. She is taking only the Herceptin treatment. Her cancer doctor has been very rude and I am not sure what to do at this point. But,…

Good Grief!!!
Hi Ladies...I cannot believe that just by being gone a few days from the boards, all that has happened. I lost my internet service for a bit. And I come back to MUCH going on. While I am saddened by all that has gone on, I have missed hearing about how everyone was doing. I cannot imagine not being here to check in with…

Sending cards to Kourtnee's Family
Melody~ That Kourtnee's life here with us on the boards came to such an abrupt end has many of us reeling. I know from the posts that she was estranged from her family; yet at the proverbial end of the day, they have lost a daughter. With that in mind, I was wondering if you would possibly share with us the family's…

Prothesis
Hey Chili and CR1954 how are your guys doing with your breast prothesis? I have found by the end of the day I am sure ready to get ride of it for some freedom, and I still have a slight creeping up on one side. But I feel a whole lot better in public. Hugs to all my pink sisters!! JoMama

BFBEAR/Debi ATTENTION
I have posted several times asking you this and I hope you will reply now. The procedure you wrote about inre to your plastic surgeon was something I had never heard of before..an almost scarless mastectomy? I had a lumpectomy, but, I would, as I am sure others, would like to know/read more about it. Can you please tell me…

IHC staining
Hi Everybody, I am brand new to this discussion board, in fact, this is the only discussion board I've ever participated in. When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer I looked around at other sites and got so freaked out I have been afraid to read more. After reading hundreds of your questions and responses I feel safe…

JUST CURIOUS PART 2 Please help if you can
Okay let me start over, I don't think I explained myself well. I was wondering how one would place a photo of document withing the body of the message one is typing to the group. There have been several occasions when I have wanted to do so but do not know how. I have been a few of you do it and am hoping you can help me…

cancer survivor sleep problems
Hello everyone, well I think I have posted previously about my sleep problems that started after chemo. I have not had a good night's sleep in over 2 years. Before cancer I used to sleep like a log period. Well I have mentioned it a couple of times to my oncologist and today he said that it is a common problem with cancer…

Hans update #4
WHEW! It's been a wild few weeks! Hans is doing better and better. He is capable of functioning at 'normal' levels...the only thing missing is his incredible retention (he could quote you on something you said to him, 10 years ago, word for word). But, he is better. He ended up with a stress ulcer, and, after 4 failed…

I am new to this group...
Hello to one and all. I am Susan, born on Christmas Day (hence, "Christmas Girl"). Joined this group just a few days ago. I've done some reading, posted just a few messages. Kinda figured out that it might be nice, polite & courteous to introduce myself to everyone instead of continuing to reply & respond, here & there.…

I had my lumpectomy in January this year and am currently in radiation treatments. I still have pain..is this normal? My radiation oncologist checks my skin every week, but, I keep forgetting to ask about the pain in my breast. And, my nipple is so sore from the radiation. Any help with something for that? Thank you!

Question on Chemotherapy and Radiation
Hi, I am fairly new to this site, and have been searching for some information on chemotherapy. I am fairly young, 27 and had DCIS, with an invasive portion. My lymphnodes are negative, but it was right up against my muscle wall and the total tumor was 10cm. I had a bilateral mascetomy for my own peace of mind and at the…

time for healing-radiation burn
OK, so a couple of days after I finished all radiation the burn under my arm opens up and peels and is red and is generally hurting. I messed with it for a day or two and then called the doc and got silvadene for it. It feels better but clothes are something I'm not interested in right now and if it dries up and pulls it…

Ovaries and Tubes Removed While on Tamoxifen?
I have read on another board where a lot of women seem to have their ovaries and tubes removed after they are on Tamoxifen. And, they say Tamoxifen can cause uterine cancer. Is a hysterectomy something anyone here has done as a result of Tamoxifen or as a precaution? I am just trying to get some answers from real, live…

Choose to have chemo?
Well, the Oncotype DX on the left tumor was low (9), so I figured no chemo. The score on the tumor in the right breast came back at a 16--that iffy range where they don't really make clear recommendations. I will meet with my oncologist tomorrow to gather more information, but she told me on the phone today, there is no…

depression
This is not necessarily a cancer problem, but just wondered how many others have experienced this: I feel depressed. Many things have happened over the past few years: I lost my father, who was my favorite person on this earth, to leukemia, then my mother died of lung cancer while I was going through the chemo, then I got…

Zometa
I'm sure this topic has already been discussed here, but at the time, it didn't apply to me, so now that it does, I'd like some info. I will be having just two infusions a year. Wondering about side effects, etc. I am so stupid, when the doctor informed me of this yesterday, I was just like, "Oh. OK." I didn't even ask any…
