Anyone else have itchy, red bumps during Radiation?
I am a little red, not bad burnt yet from Radiation treatments. Today will be #20 with 17 more to go, the last being 12 boosters. But now, I have these red itchy bumps that drive me nuts. The radiation oncologist gave me hydrocortisone to use for that, but, it isn't taking away all of the itching. Anyone else have any…

Does anyone know if all states provide the same type of radiation treatment for the breast? Are some places better than others or about the same nationwide? I appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you so much.

How do you survive being a survivor?
It will be five years out of treatment May 6, 2009 and I still can't move on. I was diagnosed two weeks before my 35th birthday. Life was good, great job, owned my own home, great friends, dating and having fun :) then it all hit like a ton of bricks! Lost my breast, my job, my house, my friends, my reproductive system and…

tomorrow jelly eggs
Well tomorrow is finally the day that I move into the next phase and shed my expanders for the nice soft implants. I'm excited yet also a mixed bag of feelings. While I'm thrilled to move ahead it is also a reminder of this whole cancer thing still being so real. Sometimes I feel like I'm on a track where last June when I…

Metabolize test for Tamoxifen? What is that?
I have read on here somewhere where some of you talked about a test to take to see if tamoxifen would work on you or something? What is the test? I haven't heard of this, nor, have I been told about it from my oncologist. thanks!

New microsurgical technique offers hope to those with lymphedema
I came across this info on another board and immediately thought of the sisters here who suffer from lymphedema. Please click here for the full text. ScienceDaily (Mar. 29, 2009) — Breast cancer patients with lymphedema in their upper arm experienced reduced fluid in the swollen arm by up to 39 percent after undergoing a…

Met with surgeon...am I weird, or what?
Thanks to all of you who wrote me about "can't sleep." The surgeon's visit was great...she's wonderful. At this point, I am definitely having a mastectomy on the left side, with immediate reconstruction (the affected area is over 5 cm, but still appears to be DCIS -- although she questions that somewhat since DCIS rarely…

DE-Construction
This may sound a little weird, but I don't want my old shape back...Do "THEY" do de-construction?...match the one facing south to the operated on one facing north-north east? I would like a reduction in the so called healthy one..Is that possible? I don't want any more surgery, but I may have to do it to be evened up.... I…

Dreaded armpit burn
OK, I've got it. I'm using aquaphor and aloe vera with methol (for sunburns). And not wearing clothes much. Any other suggestions? as burns go, it's not that bad but it'd really annoying and hurts at times so I'm trying to get it healing. I have 5 more rad tx but they are concentrated on the incision so the armpit should…

why do I know more than my doctors about AI side effects
I find it disturbing that I seem to know more than my doctors about the side effects of aromatase inhibitors. Most of you know my story: that my hair was growing back thin for months and months after chemo. Finally I went to a dermatologist who told me I had underlying female pattern baldness that was 'unmasked' or…

Hoppy Bunny Day!
I do hope that Hoppy Bunny Day is politically correct enough for as diverse a group of women and men as we are! For whatever reason we are celebrating ( or not!) I simply want to take the time to say how much I am awed by each one of you. Whether newly diagnosed, depressed, scared, halfway through treatment, finishing up~…

to all my sisters fighting the fight, PLEASE READ
Cancer is so limited. It cannot cripple love. It cannot shatter hope. It cannot discourage faith. It cannot destroy peace. It cannot kill friendship. It cannot suppress memories. It cannot silence courage. It cannot invade the soul. It cannot steal eternal life. It cannot conquer the spirit. Being a victim is a state of…

grapefruit juice and aromatase inhibitors
I never thought much about the role of diet in breast cancer, but I have recently learned that grapefruit juice is known to interfere with many medications. I'm thinking of cutting out my daily morning drink of the stuff just to be safe, but does anyone know if grapefruit juice is safe to drink when you're on AIs? Ohilly

question about my mom
Hello, I just wanted to ask anyone on this discussion board if anyone has had a white dot in the very center of the nipple? Hans update #2
Procedure went well. Patient was a pain in the neck (read lower body part). Glad to have survived it. The anesthesiologist is a dear friend of both of us, and he was there, not because the procedure warranted it, but because we both were frightened. He talked to Hans thru the entire thing. It was a great comfort. He now…

More about radiation
I told my radiology technicians that it seems to me radiation works "bass-ackwards." The more they cook me, the rarer I look! They were amused and said they hadn't heard it expressed quite like that before! Two more treatments for me--Good Friday really will be a GOOD Friday for me this year! Happy Easter to everyone.

You are all strong and brave!
I just wanted to tell you all how strong and brave you are! Every time I come back to this discussion group and read all of your input,it is an emotional and inspiring time. question/what happens when stop taking AIs?
I have not asked my oncologist this yet, but maybe someone knows: so what happens when you stop taking aromatase inhibitors in 5 years (or it's probably going to be 10 years with recent research). I mean, how do they keep the estrogen out of your body, and as far as side effects, do they all go away? If anyone knows,…

Can Anyone Relate
I was dx with breast cancer and during a CT Scan, it showed that I had a spot on my liver also, about 3.7 diameters. They did another CT Scan about 5 months later, in which it showed no change. I am scheduled to take another one on Friday, March 27th. I have experienced pain below my left rib cage. My doctor says that it…
