A Tribute to Those Women We've Lost, but Not Forgotten

This page was created to memorialize the wonderful women on this board who did not survive their cancer. Although they are no longer here, we honor their journeys and appreciate their contributions to our collective knowledge about uterine cancer.

This list focuses on those members with uterine cancer, but includes some women with ovarian cancer if they (or their loved one) posted frequently on the uterine board as well. There is a link to each member's profile page (although not everyone added information to the profile) and the posts that announced their passing. Per CSN's privacy policy, the list only includes the user name, not the member's first or last names.

Other names have been suggested for inclusion in this list, but I've been unable to find the posts that confirmed that they are no longer with us. In some cases this information may have been posted on Facebook or other social media rather than on this board. Or the notice may have been included in another discussion topic that I did not find when searching the board. Please private message me if you have this information for members not listed that you can confirm have passed.

There are many members who, for various reasons, stop posting on the board. In some cases we know, and in others we hope, that many of these women are just moving on with their lives after their bout with cancer is over. However some others not listed here may have passed too. But everyone's participation in this board is valuable and greatly appreciated, regardless of their outcome and whether they stayed long-term or not.

Originally diagnosed in 2011, aboutmymom's mother passed away in June 2016. aboutmymom used the information from the board to help her mother outlive her original prognosis of 2 years by another 3 years! As aboutmymom commented "This site let us know there was hope and that women can and do live longer and longer with this disease."

Stage 2, Grade 3 uterine carcinosarcoma
Cheers' mother was initially diagnosed with uterine carcinosarcoma in 2017, having previously fought anal cancer successfully 8 years earlier. Despite her strong will to beat this latest cancer and various treatments, she passed away from uterine carcinosarcoma in January, 2020.

Wanted to bring this back to top

There is so much good information in this tribute page from our warriors who have gone before us, and thanks to cmb, we have it. I have frequently gone to this page as I did today to remember what derMaus told us about Keytruda. I miss all of them, but they offered us so much wisdom. Is there some way we can keep this at the top of the page?

Tribute Page topic

I worked with CSN support when setting up the up the Tribute page to make sure I didn't violate any site privacy issues. CSN asked me to remove some personal data from my initial version of the list, including members' real names and information such as date joined and date last online (still available by clicking on the member's profile).

We also discussed the pros/cons of making the Tribute page a "sticky" topic at the top of the discussion list. But we were both concerned that having this topic so prominent on the Uterine board might be discouraging to newer members or those struggling with recurrence. My solution, which CSN agreed with, was to add a link to the Tribute page within the "sticky" FAQ topic, which does remain at the top of the list. This way members can still find the link to the page easily when they want. I do update the Tribute page when we learn that a member has passed.

I do understand

I guess because of my history, I do not have the same approach as many may have. I do celebrate the victories as I have been one. 25 years between cancers! Thank you for this beautiful page. My daughter has your contact.
