Opened my Facebook this morning and was reminded that this was Lou Ann’s birthday and she would have been 72. Remembering a remarkable woman who fought hard against this dreaded disease and was an example to all of us to enjoy the time we have. Happy Birthday in heaven our dear Lou Ann.

Thank you Susan. She contributed so much and was a wonderful example to all of us. Truly she deserves to be remembered, along with others who've gone before us.

She helped me a lot

I loved her attitude and strength. I didn't post much but I learned a lot from her. RIP dear lady.

Everytime I post I think of

Everytime I post I think of her. The day before she died, she sent me that picture that's on my post. I have no idea why she sent it - there was no explanation but nevertheless, I treasure it. Happy birthday in heaven, Lou Ann! We miss you and your "having more good days than bad."

Love,

Eldri

Remembering Lou Ann

I remember her posting helpful and encouraging words when I first joined.  I looked up to her and tried to keep my whining to a minimum because she didn't complain and I looked up to her.  I didn't realize she was my age, she seemed so wise maybe that's why I thought she was a few years older.  I remember breaking down one night, when everything hurt for days, and I hadn't slept in days either, whining in the middle of the night to whoever would answer.  It was Lou Ann (and others followed when they woke up), but she allowed me to rationalize taking a pain pill when I just couldn't take the pain anymore.  I did and finally slept and thought she was better than my doctor at understanding.  I miss you dear, Hugs Nancy

I still miss her terribly

She showed us that even under awful circumstances .... an advanced-stage Type 2, multiple recurrences and treatment setbacks, addtional surgery, even a heart attack from a treatment ... it is still possible to pass that five-year mark and beyond and still be a giving. loving person living a quality life despite this beast. Don't let ANY doctors tell you it's impossible. Her death still saddens me, and I think of her often.

Happy Birthday, LouAnn!

Rest in Peace, LouAnn...but also think of us here with grace!

Lou Ann was such a source of wisdom and common sense and great attitude.  You couldn't whine or moan much about your particular challenge in the presence of her grace and calm, which she broadcast no matter what difficulty she was facing.  Truly inspiring.  I'm sorry she is  no longer physically here, and I wish the best for her loving husband and family as they think also about her missing her birthday party this year.  Best wishes to all, Oldbeauty

Thanks for the reminder, Cheese

I admired Lou Ann’s courage and fortitude. She lived her life fully and I admired that, too. When she would summarize her situation as having “more good days than bad”, I knew that her expressed sentiment was a reflection of her positive nature and indomitable grace.

I miss her, too.
