How low a PSA? What is the new "normal"?
My PSA is 0.2 after having radiation treatment now just over 2 years ago. Interested also in this metric. Most of my usual body functions are fully changed from "normal" in one way or another after the 27 days of radiation. Almost everything. I am interested in chat with similar men and situations. I am 79. Any men that…

ADT Side Effects & Different ADT Drugs
My brother-in-law has recurrent prostate cancer (he was originally diagnosed with stage 4a) and his oncologist wants him back on ADT drug he took for 2 years. Thing is the side effects were horrendous. From what I've read (NCI, ACS, etc.), side effects can vary some between the various ADT drugs. His oncologist said they…

Decision Process re: radiation Type
Having just received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, my urologist indicated that radiation is his recommended approach and I'm scheduled to meet with radiation oncologist shortly. I'm stage 2, with evidence of Cribriform pattern 4 so active surveillance is not an option. Recognizing that everyone is different and…

Lurker finally posting....
I've known for the last 45 days that I have prostate cancer that requires treatment (65 yo in very good health). And I am committed to whatever treatment I select. I have been reading posts here for the last 30 days and I have found those posts to be very informative. Very useful. Plenty of YouTube vids to boot. But I am…

New Guy Reporting In
Greetings, Gentlemen. New guy reporting aboard here, although I’ve been watching this forum for last couple months to learn as much as I can from the collective experience of all participants. I’m 73, retired Navy, and in pretty good shape/health. PSA for nearly 20 years was 0.4 to 0.5. But it started climbing 5 years ago,…

Proton Radiation Therapy for prostate cancer and other cancers
I am done with a 28 treatment proton therapy plan at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute Center in Jacksonville. Initial PSA 5.5 Gleason 6 and T1c score. First let me say that Proton Therapy for my low grade prostate cancer was the best solution for me. I am relatively young, still play volleyball, swim and…

I would greatly appreciate your opinion.
I am 70 years old with good health. My prostate biopsy indicates Gleason 3+3 well-defined in 5/12 (40%, 50%, 20%, 60%, 15%) all on the left side. In 2/12 perineural permeation present. Rectal examination indicated hard movable parts and the biopsy showed well-defined edges. Diagnosed since 2020 with BPH Grade II by annual…

Hi - 55you with Gleason 4+3 with a primary lesion on the left, and other positives on the right. MRI indicates abutting the capsule, but clear Seminal Vesicles. Prostate cancer age related
so I’m 77 years old and was just recently diagnosed with prostate cancer with a score of eight and PSA of 6.6. I had a bone scan and a PET scan and it showed that the cancer has not spread outside of the prostate so that’s the good news. Surgery has been recommended but everything I read and seem to witness on these chats…

MRI PI-RADS 3
Rapidly rising PSA (1.9 to 7.6 in 6 months - but might be due to just having Covid. Urologist wants retest in a month). MRI shows 8 mm lesion (mild decreased T2 signal, DWI=3, but without rapid contrast wash). Is this probably cancer? Should I get a biopsy? (I also have BPH).

I just received my first PSA 2 months after my prostatectomy. It was .04. Is it normal so soon after the prostatectomy for it to be at that level and will it continue to fall more. What were others 1st PSA and subsequent one. Thanks Wheel

Incontinence question
Four weeks post RARP today. I know there is no identical timeline, but just wondering at what point those of you who have been through this started noticing significant improvement in incontinence. I'm to the point now I'm good sitting down, even if I cough or sneeze most of the time. However when I stand it's pretty non…

Prostate Cancer Survivor, Regrets
So. I had it out in 2019. Nothing has been the same. I have had neuropathy quite bad right after the surgery for months (doctor rejected my claims of pain and weakness in the leg for whatever reason and said my cure from cancer outweighed whatever), zero sexual anything and serious problems peeing for five years. I have…

Never Ending Urine Tests
I've never seen this posted before and have a concern I can't figure out. I had a RALP six years ago. My PSA was very low, but I didn't care I just wanted the cancer out of me. The surgery went fine but I am probably incontinent for the rest of my time above ground. Every six months I go in for another urine sample and…

PSA Test with Covid
My PSA went up from 1.9 to 7.6 within 6 months. But that second test was a few days after having Covid. Has anyone had a PSA test with Covid? I'm worried I might have an aggressive cancer with such a fast rise (it runs in my family). Will make doctor appt next week. Thanks.

My experience with Akeega
Akeega is the only FDA-approved treatment with BRAC+ metatstatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. In other words, if you are one of the 1% of men with the BRAC gene the chemical castration drugs will not work against your Prostate cancer. Check with your doctor to find out if you have the BRAC gene. Don't assume that…

What if radiotherapy fails
Just about everything I've been reading indicates modern radiation treatments properly administered are statistically superior to Radical Prostatectomys concerning quality of life issues. Sounds like they're equally effective. I've now been advised by two different radiologists that 5 weeks IMRT is a good first course of…

My Story Consolidated
I have started several threads but thought I'd do a new one as a summation and then just keep this one to update going forward. A brief review: I'm 52 and diagnosed with prostate cancer last month. Family history is bad: father and maternal grandfather died of prostate cancer; mother and her sister died of breast cancer;…
