Later onset incontinence after initial continence
Has anyone experienced sudden onset urine leakage (completely unprovoked—no lifting, straining, coughing, etc) after being completely dry after surgery? Prostatectomy was nearly 3 months ago.
There was a single episode of incontinence overnight around 2 weeks after surgery. Then completely dry even with exertion until two days ago had leakage out of the blue while seated. Happened again the next day. No symptoms of infection. Only thing different was a few glasses of artificially sweetened iced tea. Seems crazy that it could be the culprit since I’m pretty sure that it’s not the first time since surgery of drinking something with aspartame in it.
Needless to say, pelvic floor exercises have been faithfully restarted (went to PT before and after surgery) and no more artificial sweetener.

Good Morning, Berne,
It's probably safe to say each of us experiences, or doesn't experience, different degrees of incontinence with different triggers.
Caffeine and alcohol are often noted as culprits. Like you, I'll experience leakage out of the blue.
I am a Stage 4 prostate cancer survivor, Gleason Score 9, with the BRCA 1 Gene.
Good luck and best wishes.0 -
Hi,
Yes keep up on the Pelvic floor exercises. Check with your Urologist to see a qualified specialist.
