THANK YOU!
My heartfelt thanks to all of you for putting this into perspective. Although I found some positive 'snippets' in the outcome of my visit, all of you gave me so many more that they far outweigh the negative. I certainly am looking forward to my daughter's wedding (regardless of all the hard work it requires!), as all of…

Sad Day Thoughts and Prayers
Yesterday, my beautiful mother; Sandra Goodman - age 70, from Enfield, CT passed away. At the age of 57 - she was given 1 year to live - with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer. She fought a valiant, 14 year battle. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She always had a smile, no matter what. When she couldn't sleep at night, she would…

DR. APPOINTMENT
Well, I had my 8-hour doctor appointment yesterday. My CA125 went from 12 to 13 again - I suppose not a big jump, but would have preffered stable or down somewhat. He didn't detect anything on examination and, as I said before, nothing on the CT. He did say we could do a PET scan, but quite honestly it wouldn't show…

keeping it positive
My ca125 keeps going up and is the highest it's ever been. Scans are negative but I feel there must be microscopic disease for the numbers to be so high. Had second dose of Doxil and hoping this will start to bring the numbers back down. It's been a long time since I've had normal numbers or a break from chemo. Just…

update
Hi Everyone, just wanted you to know the Etoposide slowed the increase of my ca125 down. So I am staying on it another month. I wish it had decreased - but it only went from 68 to 80 and that is much better than 11 to 68. Hopefully it'll work another month. My Dr says he does have more on his list, including a Phase II…

Chemo again
Hi guys...off to chemo in a couple hours..not looking forward to it..but am strong and feeling very good today. Isn't that sucky...by the time you start to feel good it's time for another infusion...especially when they are only 7 days apart. I did see my Onc yesterday and did ask why he changed his mind from Topotecan to…

Hi everyone just wanted to say hi, and let you know I have had my 1st chemo today and it went fine. I might not feel like writing later so I did want to pop in now. To All the Ladies On This Board. For all of you who are struggling with just the day to day things I send you all a hug this week. Sometimes it isn't the big things that wear on us, it's all the little things. Waiting to see a doctor, scheduling an appointment, waiting in the waiting room. Waiting for a call back. Juggling…

Hi all, after summiting my Mom to abdominal-pelvic CT Scan, ca 125, Chest X-rays, mamogrphy and ultrasound..Dr. said everything looks o.k. and that we will meet again in 3 months. Etoposide
Hi Everyone, My ca125 is up to 69 and today I start oral etoposide. The next choice is tamoxifen, but hopefully the etoposide works. Of course the usual side affects and I guess I can say goodbye to my hair again. :-( My Dr says it has about a 20% rate as do most of the treatment obtions available. I guess we just keep…

My Mom's Ca 125 in July was 12 in Nov it was 10 and this month it is 16, I'm I suppose to consider this a warning. Our Onc says that as long as it's in the normal range it's o.k... is that true???

new research offers hope
I just read that MIT and New York's Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory are working on p53 gene. By activating this gene tumors shrink in some cases by 100%. While this study has only been done on mice, it offers hope for finding better ways to fight this disease. I am being treated at a cancer research center and they are…

ca-125
Hi everyone, I had a draw for ca-125 on Thurs. I'm praying that it has stayed the same or went down. I am going to get the results before my Onc calls me...I know I shouldn't but if I know in advance it give me a chance to digest the news and ask the appropriate questions. Instead of being shell-shocked does anyone know…
