Checking In
Hello To All Of You. I have not posted in awhile because I moved. The apartment house that Mom and I lived in was sold and I had 30 days to empty a house full of 33 years of memories. But with a back brace and God's strength I did it. I just hooked up my computer and decided to check in on all of you. I see so many new…

Hi all. My Dr. prescribed Effexor for depression for me and I've heard horror stories about it and am afraid to start taking it. Has anybody out there had experience with this drug? I'm going to research it carefully before starting it since I have enough problems just from chemo and such. I would appreciate any help…

Waiting on surgery
I met with the department head of Texas Oncology today and my schedule seems to have been speeded up. Instead of 6 chemos, he said that since I have responded so well to the 4 chemo treatments that we should go ahead and do the surgery now. Things are moving fast, have CT scan tomorrow and CA125 today. Should have surgery…

My doctor has recommended support hose for my legs, as my left leg is extremely swollen (edema). Don't know why??? Anyway, has anyone used them before? What kind would you recommend? I have seen several different types - for diabetes, for thrombosis, etc. So, I'm not sure which to get. I suppose I could call him back, but…

Scared of Getting a Port
Hi all. I know this is probably a trivial thing to be writing about after hearing all of your stories, but I'm going to be going back on my oral chemo but my oncologist wants me to get a port so I can have IV fluids and antinausea medicine since my veins are in bad shape. But I'm scared of getting one. I don't know why.…

I just got my ct scan results after 6 cycles of chemo. I have tumors in my chest wall and one just above the liver and one lymphnode is slightly infected. My onc was excited and I was disappointed. The one above my liver is so small they cannot "characterize" it. the node is very small. The tumors in my chest wall are…

Carbo and steroids recently caused an impaction. After ememas etc, my doc said to use Senecot, and could use it indefinately...it seems to be irritating my bowels and rectum, but I don't know what else to do. Doxil reaction?
Hello to all the great folks here, I am about to switch chemos from Topotecan to either Gemzar or a reduced dose of Doxil. A year ago I had a terrible break-out of blisters from Doxil because I didn't know about the warnings of heat and tight clothing. The break-out was about day 3 after treatment. I wonder if precautions…

Hi ladies...I was supposed to have my 3rd chemo treatment today but was told I couldn't because my platlet count was too low. Anyone else out there experience this? Chemo #2 so far so good
Hi everyone! I had my second treatment of Carbo/Taxol on Monday. Since I had a bit of a breathing problem last time, they got me taking the pre-chemo drug (Dacadron) for the next 2 morning as well. It seems to be working. My breathing is pretty even, but the nauesa is starting to catch up with me now. It hasn't been too…

My RBC was low today so I got my first shot of Aranesp and a list of the side effects. I am praying that none of them show up! Any experience with this drug from you would be appreciated if you care to share. I have tolerated the taxol and carboplatin very well through three treatments. Platelet and WBC are in normal range.
