I saw my radioligist this past tuesday for my regular 3 month check up---as soon as he walked in the room he said Linda what the heck happened...he was referring to my recent episode with a spot on the left side of my tongue that turned out to have scc cells, had surgery on June 19th to remove a small section, and all…

Pain in my jawbone is so bad sometimes!
I have been doing well from my tonsil cancer surgery and radical neck dissection, until the last week or so. As the feeling comes back, more pain in another place pops up. My jawbone gets so sore, feel like abscessed tooth, but I have dentures. Doc gave me a round of antibiotics on Tuesday, and told me if it wasn't better…

Has anyone who has been diagnosed with TMJ had sinus problems that resemble post nasal drip that starts when I rise in the morning and goes on 24/7 with the most horrible putrid foul sweet taste? Oncologist said TMJ result of radiation to head/neck for tonsil cancer 11/07 - saw an oral surgeon to explain if that could be…

One week post surgery and I thought it was going well until last night. I woke up choking with a mouthful of blood. The pain was manageable at times, but the bleeding lasted for about 2 hours. Slowly I turned to see that I'm making progress! Followed up with surgeons this morning. Nineteen hour surgery was 01/31. Fibula taken from leg and jaw reconstructed using fibula and titanium. Daily hydration
My hubby will be beginning chemo treatments some time in the next two weeks along with 5-a-week rads. Our medical oncologist tells us that after (or before) each rad session he will take a short walk down to the chemo area for IV fluids which sounds like an outstanding idea. Have any of you had this done? Is it pretty…

I stepped back in time about 5 weeks....
I haven't felt this miserable since the 4 or 5th weeks of rads, and I can't put my finger on the reason for it, too many choices. I had the 5FU pump from Tues to Saturday....my face turned a tiny bit pink on Weds, but by Thrus and Friday, it was hot, red, and puffy. I thought maybe I got a little too much sun on Weds, and…

thickening of the cheek tissue and teeth
Lately I have been noticing that my cheeks have gotten thicker on the inside. They come to rest right on the teeth which causes irritation to the mouth lining and sometimes small sores. I assume this is related to the radiation. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I have also noticed that my incisors now rest…

Speech pathologist appointment
I called for my speech pathologist appointment today, and the first available opening was 7/19... more than two weeks away. Apparently the guy is only in one day a week. Ugh!
