HOORAY, I'M NED
Can you believe that? After scaring me out of my wits, the bi-phasic CT scan came back normal and my CEA is 0.5, about as normal as it can get. The surgeon plans to scan again in July and keep an eye on that spot they noticed in the PET/CT scan which showed along the cut edge of the liver at the July '08 surgery…

A drop of blood may help assess cancer therapy
An article link sent to me by a friend from Your Total Health. I've never been to this site, so I really don't know how good their information is, but this article seems promising although it's rather short on details. Drop of Blood

Opinions needed: UPDATED
I had unexpected gall bladder surgery this past Wednesday. My regular chemo is scheduled for THIS Wednesday. That's one week between the two. I'm sore and bruised but not in pain. I feel fine, other than some twinges once in a while. I've been thinking about the timing, because of how sick Beth felt this past week after…

With or without
I am allergic to the contrast dye used in CT Scans and took a drug cocktail to help allievate that issue, but in Oct 08 (after taking the drug cocktail), the radiologist at the hospital stated he would not perform the scan with contrast even though I had already taken the drug cocktail due to the fact that the more scans…

Helpful colon cancer web site
I was surfing the net and found what looks to be a helpful web site about colon cancer. It is: "Suzanne Dixon, MPH, RD - About.com Colon Cancer Guide" You can find the actual URL by Googling it or going to about.com and go from there. From what I read, it was very interesting, even had a brief video about staging and what…

10 down, 2 to go, but i have a question?
I'm doing ok - tired, hands icky. Doc suggested alpha lipoic acid for the neuropathy, and said if it isn;t gone he may not do the ox for the 11th treatment. I haven't bought it yet, but i may try it, only 2 treatments seems to be a waste. Anyway - does anyone out there have a problem with sore throats? it seems that the…

Feet problems after Treatment
Hey all, I just joined and am so excited and impressed with this site. I stumbled on it trying to find out if someone out there is having the same weird side effect I'm having and knows what's causing it. I finished chemo 3 years ago and 1 year ago my feet became red most of the time (and I mean bright sunburned red) and…

Is there a possibility to...
change how often I get chemo? I'm on a schedule of every other week. Oxi at Md Anderson then 2 days of 5Fu. They had to stop my 5th chemo for a week because of the terrible side effects. I had a "week off" before my most recent treatment this past Tuesday. I still get the same side effects, but nothing so severe. I feel…

Had Emergency Surgery before noon Wednesday! UPDATED
I got sick with a gall bladder attack last about 10:45. I walked, tried different positions and finally woke Jim at 2:00. He took me to the ER and they did loads of blood work plus an ultrasound that showed 'numerous' gall stones, but no blockage. They gave me pain killer IV and sent me home. By time I got home, the pain…

FAPmom47
Hi Jackie! Just wanting an update on your doc appointment? Did you find out anything? You know they are the ones who should feel like idiots, not you. It's their responsibility to show you the methods of how things work. Don't feel bad, i had clueless people too. I was lucky though because my system is sort of basic. I…

I had the drain removed tuesday. Currently no signs of infection or abscess. I played golf today, the first time since my diagnosis. That's a little more than a year. I shot 3 over par from the pro tees. Not bad considering I still have the hole between my ribs from the drain. I know that little tid bit wasn't cancer…

How would I know?
So, I went in for my bloodwork today, and since I had never been told what my CEA was at diagnosis, I asked if they could give me that number. It was exactly the same as it has been at subsequent checks (assuming I get the same answer when I call tomorrow!). That's fine, except I wonder how I'm supposed to know if anything…

Nothing to do with illness, something just amazing.
A 47 year old homely looking woman got an opportunity to sing on Britains got Talent. She sang, I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserable. The crowd was laughing and making fun of her before she sang and everyone seemed to think she was a loser...until she started to sing. She even melted Simons heart. If you want to see/hear…

How to post photos and other items.
Hatshepsut tried to post a slide show of some sort. I thought she has a great idea that can be a comforting diversion from the grind of cancer.
