menopause help for breast cancer survivor
I had breast cancer back in 2001. The cancer did not spread to my lymph nodes. Now I'm having a terrible time with menopause. I see all these women on Dr. Phil and The Doctor's getting all this help for menopause, but none are breast cancer survivors. Am I the only one who has gained 30lbs, always tired? can't remember. I…

This is why we have each other
Often there are posts here about spouses, family, friends, co-workers,...who don't seem to be able to deal with our bc. What they don't seem to realize is that can**r affects not only the person with it, but everyone around them. They also don't realize that we cannot get through this alone. Some of those whom we most…

My chemo onc and nurses have told me that if anything out of the ordinary happens health wise, that I'm supposed to let them know. So here is my question... what is considered out of the ordinary for someone such as myself who is a 2 year, clean lymph nodes survivor who is on tamoxifen. What should I be watching for,and what…

low RBC....
I was just looking over some of my bloodwork papers (organizing into folder) and noticed that my last test earlier this month showed a very low RBC which I think is red blood count. Prior to that I had High gloconocytes (white count differential). That white count seems to have cleared up, but red count showing under the…

the waiting is the worst
I've been reading the boards on and off for the entire month of June 09... My sister found a lump that eventually turned up to be fiber...something. In the meantime, she convinced me to go have a mamo. Mine turned up to be... well... I don't know yet. My gyno has referred me to a surgeon for a biopsy on Tuesday and…

DIEP tomorrow
Seof, I knew you were doing this reconstruction this summer, and I was just thinking this morning that I hadn't heard anything from you for a while. I'll keep you in my thoughts. I had bilateral mastectomies and DIEP all in one fell swoop--17 hours of surgery. That was March 4, and I was back at work 1/2 time on 4/13, full…

Do acupuncture, reiki or massages help with the chemo and radiation?
Hello All, I am new to this group. I am 33 and was diagnosed with bc in May. It took a while to accept this fact but had to move along. I am in middle of my chemo right now. I wanted to know if reiki and acupuncture help with your chemo and radiation? It is not covered under the insurance and can be expensive, so was…

Well, I was heart broken and SWORE OFF having any more pets. But guess what? Last week I got ADOPTED! By the prettiest tailless lady cat you ever saw. Seems a neighbor…

Recent Diagnosis_What's Next
I got my diagnosis in May 2009. I was shocked becaused I thought I had done all the right things (yearly mammograms, monthly self brest exams, etc.). I discovered the lump in my right breast on Mother's Day. The following week I had a diagnostic mammogram at 8:30 am that did not show the lump me and my gynecologist was…

Surgeon Just Called With News!!!!
My surgeon, herself, just called and was so happy to tell me that she wanted to give me the good news herself. There was absolutely not one lymph node that was infected on the final pathology report. Also, the tumor was actuallly smaller than what she first measured (which would have made sense since she measured it from…

After that round we are going to do Taxotere 1 day treatment, 3 weeks off, doing that one a total of times as well. Then…

Mammograms after treatment
I had a lumpectomy and radiation starting last July and just had my first mammogram since the surgery. About 5 days later the breast that was treated turned very red. It has gradually faded, but still is not like the other breast. I realize they squashed areas with scar tissue, but has anyone else experienced this?
