Skin Pain after bilaterals-my solution
I had double mastectomy on Jan 5 2010,and had horrible skin pain above the incisions. I could not stand anything to touch that higher chest skin! I read in one of the blogs that self massage helped and that so did compression. I started immediately gently rubbing the sensitive area and wrapping with an ace bandage. Now 3…

New Life!
I took this expressions picture this morning. We had about 2-3 inches of snow last night and this morning this tulip was showing through the snow. I've been overwhelmed with the wonder of spring this year as I feel I've been given a new chance at life. I've been reborn - after the recovery from surgery and coming out of…

My daughter wrote a poem-relay for life
Some of you may recall my first post last August asking for advice on how to help my young children cope with my breast cancer diagnosis? I received such incredible advice from all of you and I can tell you that it really did help my girls get through my chemo, radiation, hysterectomy, and their Gran's death. So here's the…

Done with Chemo and Finally Feel Well Enough to Post!
The title says it all: the last several weeks have been really rough, and I just didn't expect it! Everything went so easily for me through the first half of chemo (the A/C half), and even after I had a reaction to a blood transfusion at the beginning of the second half (the taxol half), I just expected things to continue…

All done with chemo!
I finished 6 rounds of chemo (cytoxan/taxotere) on April 23. Yippee!!! As I look back I can't believe I made it through the ups and downs but then I think God was there with me the whole time. I took him with me to every chemo and each day he got me out of bed to continue on with my life. I swore I wouldn't let chemo…

I Have A Question
I had a left breast mastectomy a year ago this last March. I am currently experiencing sometimes intense pain right in the center of the site and sometimes in my arm. (I am going to be seen on May 10 at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute). I am wondering if this is normal even this long post surgery or if this should be a…

captain's log 042410
Captains log 042410..... Eight days previous, I arose from bed, looked in the mirror pointedly at each and every hair follicle, and proclaimed with a deep and demanding voice much like that of Zeus, "Let the follicular recharge....BEGIN!" However, during the course of the following week, daily inspections have found my…

Finally ditched the wig!
Saturday I went out for the first time without the wig, just to Blockbusters Video. It wasn't so bad. I wore my pink ribbon cap. It felt good. The red hair I dyed might have to go. Maybe a light golden brown before I go to work without the wig. It is a little chilly on the back of the neck. And I have noticed my brows and…

drainage, lumps, pain but neg mammo/US
Hi, everyone. Just wondering if anyone has had my experience. I have…

new to this
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in February... turns out she has had it for quite some time and was too afraid to say anything. She was so sick that I had to call a rescue to get her to the hospital. The cancer is not operable or curable. The doctors hope to control it, but she is not a very patient patient. She…

We become Strong
I used to be afraid of needles. I'd look away for injections, blood draws or IV starts. Never had Novacaine at the dentist because I'd rather face the drill than a needle. Then came breast cancer, lumpectomy, and brachytherapy radiation. I had a huge cavity and as a consequence, I couldn't have the Mammosite, SAVI, or…
