Check-up Wednesday
Hi - I have my next rad/onc checkup on Wednesday. Feeling a bit nervous. It has been two years since my bilateral mastectomy and a year and a half since all active treatment was finished (chemo and radiation). I only ever get blood work done and a clinical chest/lymph node exam. Please pray that all goes well. Thanks! Lynn

UNUSUAL FUNERAL A woman was leaving a convenience store with her morning coffee when she noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A long black hearse was followed by a second long black hearse about 50 feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary woman walking a pit…

Insurance denial for a bi-lateral Mastectomy
My wife was diagnosed 4/22 with stage 1 ductal carcinoma T3 triple negative in one breast. When she talked to her insurance company (she works for a hospital and they are self insured) they said in her case a bi-lateral mastectomy was elective surgery for the one side and would not cover it. My question is, how many have…

I have no control
I wss diagnosed on 3/25 and had a lumpectomy and setinel node biopsy on 4/12. I know I am going to have 33 radiation treatments and no chemo (thank heavens). I feel like I have lost all control of my life and what is happening to me. The only thing that is helping me keep it together is that I have my husband by my side.

Fatigue
I really hate the word fatigue..I am wondering if anyone besides me just feels really tired alot? I have had two treatments of taxotere/cytoxan. After the second treatment (which I had an allergic reaction to) I was down for two days on the third and fourth days after my treatment. I just had no energy at all. Now, it is…

Eating right
I've been reading with interest the posts about soy products (including multi-vitamins) and their affect on tamoxifen. Now I've just seen on an internet site that flaxseed has the same stuff as soy. Does anybody have a really good source of information on this whole topic of diet and tamoxifen? I think I'll be talking with…

Hands swelling
I noticed a few weeks ago that my index finger on the right was swollen a bit. Mentioned to the doc, who didn't seem too concerned. Today, I noticed that the other fingers are swelling a bit as well, and my hands feel tight when I make a fist. I had only 4 lymph nodes removed from the left, and 1 from the right. My…

Hello, all my precious sisters in pink. Today I am requesting encouragement for myself, my dear daughter and her husband, and my good friend Eileen as we plan to participate in the "MAKE STRIDES" 5-mile walk along the beautiful Rio Grande River on Sunday, April 25, 2010. I started walking about a month ago as part of my…

how long after radiation for expander exchange
I was wondering how long people had to wait until they had their expanders removed and implants put in after radiation. My doctor just told me he likes to wait at least 9 months until he does the exchange to let everything heal well. He says if it is done sooner then problems can occur. It is hard to image having these…

I colored my half inch of hair
I was so tired of looking at dark gray and white on my head. I decided to try and color it. I used Revlon Colorsilk in light auburn and it turned out great. I think in a few weeks I'll be putting away these wigs, for good I hope. If my daughter was here, I'd post a picture. I can't believe it's been 3 months since chemo…

Friday Funny
With time, women gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, Good grief,…

Allergic Reaction?
I had my 3rd AC chemo a week ago and have been experiencing some allergic-type reactions the past few days. My first 2 treatments resulted in the normal side effects that everyone is warned about, but these new ones are puzzling. I have very watery eyes, even stuck together in the mornings, like conjunctivitis. Then I had…

Newbie :)
Hi there! I was recently diagnosed with Stage II Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I found my lump on March 8th while I was reading a book to my son. I called the doctor right away and I ended up having an U/S and mammogram scheduled within two days. They couldn't tell from the U/S what it was so they told me I had to have a…

breast reduction question
This may be a stupid question ... and I do not want to appear that I am not sensitive to what many have had to go through...because i truly am but I am lucky with an early diagnosis of DCIS. Radiation to begin this week. I have large breasts that I had previously considered getting reduced because of back and neck…

Scars from surgery
Hi all, I am about two months post-op from a bilateral mastectomy, going through rads right now and my main problem seems to be my scars. The worst and most painful one is where they removed my port on my chest. The docs said it healed as a keloid scar, which normally happens in darker skins tones (and of course I'm pretty…

Swimsuits - where to find a cute one?
I have to find a swimsuit by mid May to take G-daughter to WaTiki Water Park for her birthday - we do it every year. All the site's I've found that show post mastectomy suits have ones that I'm not about to wear - too OLD/matonly looking. I'm OLD yes - but I don't dress my age. So any ideas for younger looking swim suits.…

Joke for ChenHeart
Well not much on telling jokes but I will try. This is an old one but always makes me chuckle. A man walked into a bar and told the bartender he had the best attraction ever for his bar. The bartender was skeptical but wanted to know what the heck the guy had. So he said let me see what you have. The guy reached in his…
