I am having a terrible time with the Arimidex (uhgggg...whole different story I do not have time for tonight that you have been spared from!), but other than that I am getting on with life! I miss…

Odd experience with DIEP recon.
Anyone who has had DIEP recon, I was just wondering if anyone has had an experience like mine. I had DIEP reconstruction last year with a revision in March to finish up. The last 2 weeks I have noticed occasional stabbing pains in the newly created breast in the location where the tumor was in the original breast. In my…

Question on scan results
Wife just had her X-rays, CT & bone scans done earlier this week. Since she works at the hospital, she has access to the reports....everything looks OK except for one thing. The Ct showed a right ovary that appeared to be "normal" and "unremarkable". The problem is she had a bi-lateral Oophorectomy done this past October.…

I am a big chicken
I almost did it but chickened out at the last minute. I drove all the way to the supermarket bare headed with my little 1/4 inch of hair. I brushed it real good to make sure all of the little hairs where in the right place. When I got to the parking lot of the store. I sat there for a minute and had to put my bandana on.…

Head scarves
Hi all, I'll be starting chemo tomorrow. I've been checking some websites for some cute head scarves. I was hoping to get some that are a little a long in the back and you can tie them to look like a "ponytail". I found some that are already sewn in that form but are fairly expensive. Anyone know where you can get some…

Dreading My First Chemo Tomorrow, May 6
I'm starting to feel better from the masectomy, well enough that I went to the bra shop today and was fitted for the prothesis and masectomy bras. That cheered me up and almost made me feel and look normal. Tomorrow is the day I dread. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30AM for 7:30AM port installation, then recovery and…

Tissue Expanders
I had a bilateral mastectomy on April 15th with the reconstruction process started. They put in tissue expanders and it feels like I have a pair of steel hand cuffs laying on my chest. They have not even begun to expand them yet because I had a to have an outpatient surgery to get rid of some skin that was not healing.…

Anybody decide not to reconstruct??
I'm turning 55 this month - and am 3 months out of chemo. Did the bilat mast with no reconstruction. Couldn't take it all in at that time so determined to wait to make the decision. Now I'm not sure I want to go through the surgery for reconstruction - or what kind of reconstruction I would even want to undergo. Are there…

? on bilaterial mastectomy
I have chosen to have a bilaterial mastectomy instead of a single. My question is does that mean that I can't use a pressure cuff or have bld drawn from the noncancer side? I don't like the idea of getting stuck in the leg or foot.

wouldn't you think. . .
. . .that your doctors know what is best/right for you??? my medical oncologist kept telling me that when i finished chemo, we would do either another pet scan or breast mri before the mastectomy (i have inflammatory breast cancer, so no focal point for the tumor). well, the breast surgeon said no, we have to do the…

I am meeting with my Medical Oncologist in a few days and I am so eager to get these Chemo treatments started...just scared out of my wits too. OWWW! Help with healing from rads?
It hurts to move, it hurts to sleep on that side, it hurts to touch, and it looks really close to bleeding. My doc has given me 3 ointments to use, but just wondering how long it takes to start working and how long til I'm seeing progress! I know part of the answer is the usual "everyone is different" but just wondering…
