Finally ditched the wig!
Saturday I went out for the first time without the wig, just to Blockbusters Video. It wasn't so bad. I wore my pink ribbon cap. It felt good. The red hair I dyed might have to go. Maybe a light golden brown before I go to work without the wig. It is a little chilly on the back of the neck. And I have noticed my brows and…

drainage, lumps, pain but neg mammo/US
Hi, everyone. Just wondering if anyone has had my experience. I am currently an active thyroid cancer patient (follicular variant, if anyone cares), with a positive tumor marker and negative whole body scan (which means I have active cancer that isn't big enough to detect or doesn't take up the uptake stuff). I have…

Can lymphedema happen at anytime?
I have read where so many have this, and, it seems it doesn't necessarily happen or show up right after surgery. Just wondering if it can show up later. And, what should I watch for? Swelling? Thanks! Leeza

new to this
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in February... turns out she has had it for quite some time and was too afraid to say anything. She was so sick that I had to call a rescue to get her to the hospital. The cancer is not operable or curable. The doctors hope to control it, but she is not a very patient patient. She…

We become Strong
I used to be afraid of needles. I'd look away for injections, blood draws or IV starts. Never had Novacaine at the dentist because I'd rather face the drill than a needle. Then came breast cancer, lumpectomy, and brachytherapy radiation. I had a huge cavity and as a consequence, I couldn't have the Mammosite, SAVI, or…

Tightness with implants 3 months post op
Hi. I'm new to the network. I had a bilateral mastectomy in July '09 with tissue expander placement. In December '09, implants were placed. Do the implants get to the point of not feeling like something is tight around my chest? My ribs also hurt. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to alleviate this.…

Glee
So far my stress/mood/depression/ups and downs have been mostly triggered by my wife's state of mind; trying to keep her from sinking in the emotional quick sand of the C-word; cancer. But last night's Glee episode which focused on a widowed mother and father of two of the kids getting together, and featuring the song…

Expander exchange
I had my expanders exchanged to silicone implants on 4/9. The discomfort is no where near the pain I felt with the expanders, but I'm still feeling soreness & pulling. I'm small, was a B cup before surgery, had only 150cc injected during expansion and that was painful for me - the implants are 175cc. How long does it take…

Weight Watchers - Weigh-in 04/26/09
There are 2 people available to weigh you. I am never going to let one person weigh me for 2 reasons. First, I can't read his handwriting. Second, he doesn't know math. I am going to have to figure out how I can tactfully avoid him and go to the other person. Not so easy to accomplish. Last night I was late, that person…

Anyone have ovaries removed as a precaution?
Hi All, I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Cancer, Stage 1 in Feb. 09. My surgeon recommended I have my ovaries removed to as a precaution because there is a correlation between breast and ovarian cancer. He gave me a script for Arimidex to start after rads which should be now! I asked him why he prescribed Arimidex when I've heard that you should…

I am into cycle 2 of pre-surgery chemo, expect to have masectomy on one breast. At first, I planned on no reconstruction surgery....mostly because I did not wish the addition surgeries and down time from my work as an underwater diver. However, now I am wondering would I regret that decision, would I feel very…
