“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.” Lena Horne
I heard Halle Berry quote Lena Horne on the awards show the other night. I've thought about this ever since. Sometimes I'm so full of fire I feel like I can do anything, other times I can't get out of my own way. This quote just really got to me for some reason, and I just wanted to share it. I definitely need to change…

Please include me with your thoughts tomorrow.
Well, here I go again with my six month visit with the oncologist. Just need you all to keep me in your thoughts tomorrow....hopefully will have questions answered, and possibly be reassured with a couple of scans (bone scan, and CAT scan). This is so routine, but still scary. Thanks, Hugs to all, Judy

TC vs TAC
Ok here goes....I was diagnosed 3/1/2010 with Stage 2 Estrogen Positive BC, went to MD Anderson, had a partial. At first, I was told I wouldn't need chemo, but after Oncotype, the cancer was very aggressive and chemo was recommended. When I saw the onco at MD Anderson Houston, we didn't get along at all.... it's weird, I…

Does this pathology report look complete to you ?
I have posted many times before about my mom cancer and received some helpful information but the problem is with my mom's oncologists. The first oncologist wanted to treat my mom for breast cancer based on the pathology report. The biopsied tissues were removed from tumors in her back. Her second oncologist said that the…

Shingles after Chemo
Finished chemo three month nearly, now have shingles. Thinking due to low immune system. Wondered if anyone else had the same problem. Kind of makes sense to me, though I have had it before due to stress. Oh, I forgot chemo IS stressful, ha. Any comments welcome. Plus hair is short and thick but not growing as fast as I…

TAXOL and Abdominal Pain/Digestive Issues
Hi there. I have just had my 6th round of chemo, the 2nd of 4 rounds on TAXOL. With the first round my biggest side effect was excruciating bone pains; mind you this was compounded with the use of NEULASTA. With this second round however I began to experience debilitating abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, dry heaves,…

When did you go "topless"?
Yesterday I went to an indoor "flea market" and since I figured I wouldn't see anyone I knew, I decided (with coaxing of my sister, brother-in-law and hubby) to go "bare headed". Now my hair has been coming in nicely for about 7 weeks and is maybe 3/4 inch long--mostly white with some darker brown patches. As I'm shopping…

"Junk Swap" - anyone want to sign up?
Several said they would like to do a "Junk Swap" and Greta hasn't said that we couldn't so lets do one. If someone else wants to organize let me know - otherwise I'll do it if no objections. "Junk" is not garbage - what should go in the trash - but 'stuff' you have that you no longer want or use - or want to just pass on.…

Question about breast cancer mestatasis ??
I have a question, my mom has breast cancer that has mestastasis to her liver. During our last visit her oncologist mentioned that her tumors were close to the top layer of her liver. I feel stupid because I didn't ask at the time, but I quite don't understand what that means in terms of diagnosis or prognosis. Can that be…

The Cheerleader, the Funny Guy & the Interrogator
This article, written by a prostate cancer survivor, is from the most recent newsletter of weSPARK, my local cancer support center. I think it shows you don't have to have breasts to get the same kinds of reactions from people we talk about here all the time, and it made me laugh out loud ("My mother had ALL her organs…

chemo or no chemo, what do you think?
Have my oncology appt the 15th, wish it were sooner. Have done lots of reading and it appears I could really be in for many different types of treatment. I am Stage 2, T2, Grade 3, Her2 Negative. What I am seeing is MAYBE chemo, radiation, and some form of pill for 5 years? I have IDC by the way, no node involvement. Does…

Why do I let it bother me??
So, my SIL and BIL came by to visit on Sunday at about 1:00 to see how I am...they brought me a very nice gift of a plate that says Family, with a tree on it and wonderful words around it saying love, cherish, etc..etc..I totally love it... So, I have gotten up about 1/2 an hour before they had gotten there...brushed my…

Can doctor be that confused?
My mom's first oncologist have told us based on the biopsy that she has a breast cancer that has metastasized to her backbone where she had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove part of the tumor. The biopsy results of the tissues removed from her back revealed that she may have breast , lung or bone cancer. She went to see…

Rant, rant, rant-vent, vent, vent
So, all I want is someone to take care of ME. I need a Team Leader. Seems like a reasonable request. Every question is answered with "Check with your Onc" - Check with your PCP Check with anyone but us. Meds come throught the mail - God, how I miss my trusty ole pharmacist!!! I swear, they are really simple questions.…

beyond pissed.......nipple tattooing
So, double mastectomy with implants in January 2009. Everything was going perfect with insurance. I now decided that I would like to complete the process by doing the tattooing. Found someone in my area (Milwaukee, WI) that does it, but she charges $350.00 per. She requires that I pay her and then submit it to my insurance…

I have been reading with interest the posts about how to talk to your drs. and the ones that are better at conversations than others. It's so helpful to know (as always) that there are others out there who think and feel the same way I do. I have been very lucky with my medical team, surgeon, oncologist, rad dr. and nurses…
