1 month after chemo & i'm supposed to bounce right back.....
Ok here comes a nice big vent - so feel free to skip over this one if you don't want to listen to my whining. Up until now my husband has been so helpful through everything. Literally the week I had my last chemo everything changed. He's never home. He owns his own business, so he thinks that the only thing he has to do…

Discovery and Space Station
I know this isn't directly related to BC but I feel I need to at least write about my feelings now. I am so thankful for all that science has given to so many areas of our lifes - especially health issues. Just a little bit ago I bundled up (it's 2F here) to go out and watch the Space Station pass overhead followed a few…

PAIN IN RIGHT KNEE
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice, remedy, suggestions on how to alleviate some of the pain in my right knee. I started Arimidex on January 5, 2011 along with a daily dose of vitamin D (1200 units) and calicum (1000mg). For the past couple of weeks I've noticed my knee beginning to ache more and more. I have a…

How to break the news?
I have some family members who are a bit fragile when it comes to hearing bad news. I have kept the diagnosis from many except my closest friends until after Tuesday morning when I get some answers from my surgical oncocologist. In this way I can avoid a lot of questions that I can't begin to answer. I have a daughter with…

Positive framing language for breast cancer and mastectomy leads to shift in focus
OK, this may sound a little freaky and/or Polly-annish but my husband and I both came up these ideas independently this weekend so though it might be worth sharing. He has been telling people "my wife has breast cancer". Suddenly, this weekend, he shifted to saying "my wife is undergoing treatment for breast cancer." He…

Question about pain with Taxol ?
I just finished up my chemo ( YAHOO ! ) on the 28th of Feb. I started chemo in mid October - I had 4 treatments of A/C and 12 treatments of Taxol. I've also had to have nulasta shots ( 3 sequential days ) after each Taxol treatment due to low white counts. The nulasta pain seems to be gone, but the Taxol pain is awful. (…

Neupogen shots at home
Hi, all. So, with 4 weekly rounds of Taxol to go, my white blood cells decided to take a dive and now I am getting Neupogen shots twice each week. Instead of going to my oncologist's office, we got them through our prescription drug plan and yesterday my husband gave me the first one at home! Have to say, he's a little too…

Junk swap ladies & anyone else...
I'd love to send you SNOW! We got 2 ft overnight. What a nightmare getting to work. Hubby got up at 5:30 to snowblow our long driveway, but I had to wait for the town to do our road - and then they only plowed one lane. I held my breath and drove down the hill & around the curve and hoped I wouldn't meet anyone. Phew! The…

Tamoxifen + Prednisone... Anyone have that combo? Issues?
I've been on Tamoxifen since September, and I had to start using prednisone last week for an upper respiratory infection (I had allergic reactions to 2 different antibiotics). All of your prayers and good wishes are definitely working!
I met with my oncologist and here are my PET scan results: "Decreased glucose hypermetabolism within the right 8th rib. Stable sclerosis within the 6th and 12th ribs, WHICH ARE NO LONGER HYPERMETABOLIC." (caps are mine ;-) In English, this means the 8th rib has less cancer activity and that the other 2 ribs are showing now…
